  1. Recently i received a parking charge for exceeding the 2 hour time limit from 1am to 4am at a service station as i was tired and resting. I was driving my brothers car which is registered to him obviously. There were not many other cars around and somehow they had nothing better to do than to send my brother a parking charge. I was advised to ignore this as i read up online from many sources i didnt have to pay it because its a private company, not issued by the council and are a bunch of [problematic]. We've now received a 2nd letter which states as i failed to pay £50 the charge has now risen to £80..... A additional charge of £40 will be added on if i failed to pay again. And says "Failure to pay the full balance outstanding within 14 days of the date of this notice could result in the balance outstanding being registered as a debt against you. You will also become liable for additional costs and interest involved. You ability to obtain credit in the future could be affected. and in bold " WE ARE HOLDING PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE ON THE FILE TO SUPPORT THIS CLAIM " They also have the details such as name and acquired the address from DVLA which they shouldnt really be giving out to private companies. Has anyone else had one of these parking charges? and ignored them as many people online have advised? As im slightly worried causing hassle for my bro and messing up his credit rating etc. Im guessing the fee is going to continue to increase and just wanna be sure before it gets more and more expensive! Find it pretty stupid that they rather you risk driving tired then stopping at services till your ready, after all i thought this is what services are for? Any help is appreciated!
  2. I was handed a penalty fare notice and have sent me letter in today recorded delivery! Im hoping that as this was my first time and a honest mistake they would show some leniency and dismiss the fine.
  3. Well im gonna send this letter in and see where it takes me! If i send this letter in within the 21 day period and the appeal is rejected, do i still get time to pay the original £25 or would i have to pay the £50?
  4. Hi All, I received a penalty fare today on the DLR for not producing a valid ticket but this was a genuine mistake as i had forgotten my oyster card which contains a monthly ticket on. I advised the ticket inspector that my gf could travel back to my home and bring my valid oyster card but she refused (We travelled from Island Garden to Cutty Sark which is 1 station) I have constructed the letter below but i was wondering if there was anything else i should include: (My address etc) Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to appeal the enclosed penalty fare notice (DL 0062704) i received on 18.20 on Saturday 11th July 2009 for my journey from Island Garden DLR station to Cutty Sark DLR Station. The penalty notice was issued on the basis that i did not produce a valid ticket for my journey but i would like to appeal this fine on the grounds that i had genuinely forgetten to bring my Oyster card with me. My oyster card no.( xxxxxxxxxxxxxx) registered to me Mr (Name) contains a monthly season ticket for Zones 1 & 2 which would have been valid for this journey indicates that there would be no need for any fare evasion. I have also enclosed my receipt for the latest transaction for my oyster card (£99.10 monthly zone 1 & 2) which was purchased from Moorgate underground station on the 3rd July 2009. This transaction would have enabled me to travel anywhere within Zones 1 & 2 within the period 5th July 2009 to 4th August 2009. With the evidence supplied i would like to ask you to re-consider the fine on the grounds that a genuine mistake had ocurred. I would also like to request that all letters from this point onwards to be forwarded to the following address: (Work address) Should you have any questions you can contact me on xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx or my mobile xxxxxxxxxxxxx I look forward to your response.
  5. I have just recently moved into london with another flat mate, me and my flat mate recently went on our seperate holidays and during this time we received a letter dated 20th June for Council tax - Final notice for amount outstanding to 31st MArch 2009 £840. They gave us 7 days to pay this and i got back from holiday on the 27th June which i duly paid the monthly £105 as i simply couldnt afford the full £840 on my own. Now i thought this issue was settled until i received a letter today 10/07/08 from Phoenix Commercial Collections Certificated Baliffs for £537.28...........i have no idea what this fee is so i wont be paying it. The letter was dropped in our post box as me and my flat mate work during office hours so no one come into contact with him. Now i was wondering if they have any right to impose any charge on us.................? I tempted to call the council office tomorrow morning to pay the full settlement as my flat mate is now back and we can afford the full £735 now. But will this be enough or would i need to pay Phoenix Commercials £24.50 for the visit they made.........?
