  1. I jut found this website: http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/eiir/IIRRegisterNameInput.asp presumably this covers all kinds of bankruptcies. I'm not listed here - so can I assume I'm in the clear ? rgds
  2. I have moved many times over the last few years and have a good credit record. I do recall a couple of old debts from an old address that i haven't heard about from DCA's until recently. They're well over 6 years old though and not linked on my credit file. One of the debts was quite large. Is it possible to be made bankrupt without knowing about it ? I.e. at that old address ? Or can you only be made bankrupt post a court appearance ? Just curious since clearly you can get ccj's in this type of situation and not know about it ! Thanks !!
  3. This is looking better than i feared - thanks to everyone. I just noticed this on Experian's website under account status: Debt sold to CAIS member The lender has sold the debt to another member of our information-sharing scheme. The old account will have been closed and a new active account will show in the name of the lender who has bought the debt. Are DCA's (lowell & Kaptiv) CAIS members ? If for instance a CCJ was awarded and not a default (or if not statute-barred) - presumably they could just open and report a new account - and institute a new default ? Rgds
  4. Cashins - thank you Final question..... Current address = A (not linked to B or C) Dirty address = B Parents address = C possibly linked to B If a search is done using A & B (current and what the DCA suspect is the linked address) - will C also show-up as a linked address on my current credit file ? Or do only addresses entered into a search show-up as links (and not links of links !!) Rgds
  5. Really appreciate your feedback and swift replies. I check my credit reports online - but the only linked addresses are those i have given in credit applications and are all recent - nothing from the distant past. So currently there is no linkage (and I have and will avoid creating one !!). I'm concerned that Lovell's will do a search and create that linkage on my report. What is the likelihood of this - and can I have it removed if they do ? I obviously do not know at this stage what debt they have bought - but I do know that it will be more than 8 years old (no mortgage debt, and no contact). I'm just waiting now for that old address to become linked by a Lovell's or Aktiv search.... this is what i want to prevent. It will also open the floodgates to other DCA's (I have about 4 debts that ended there. I was 18, foolish and a student that had overextended at college). thanks again,
  6. Firstly - what a wonderful site & community - I spent hours on here last night (I couldn't sleep). Unfortunately I am more confused now than I started off and desparately need some advice. 10 Years ago my credit record was a mess. I moved to a new home and started from fresh. I now have a job that requires me to have a clean credit record - and moved to a new home. My credit record is now perfect. In the last week I have received the following: Aktiv - request for a payment of a bank debt Lowell's - request to confirm that I used to live at the address where i left my troubles behind I am so terrified I am shaking. I have not had any contact with any of my old creditors for over 8 years. I don't think any went to CCJs - so I would imagine they are all statute barred. However, I don't want to spend the rest of my life looking over my shoulder - plus my career is at risk here. I am also, fortunately in a position to settle any old debts (even though they may not be enforceable) - and morally its clearly the right thing to do. My credit record doesn't appear to have been searched by Aktiv or Lowell's yet. Is there any way I can setlle with them on the condition they do not report to the CRA's ? I have had no correspondance with them yet. My old address was also linked to my parent's address where there may be a default (I was paying off a debt but recently stopped because I thought it was settled - so foolish - going to investigate this today). Could a search by lowell's link all addresses ? How do I make this go away and save my career and mortgage ? Thanks in advance for your advice - I feel absolute despair. S
