just an update to this, sorry not done it before but been I'll anyways sent letter off in February , 1 asking them to prove it 2 sending a photo copy of letter from gratten that I had forgotten about stating they would not be Pursuing the alleged debt 3 and also sending them a photo copy of a letter from themselves regarding another matter in which they stated that they would not not pursue the other matter or any other debt they might buy in the future. these letters I forgot about anyway to date not heard nothing back from them so about 4 months have gone by hope everyone is well

No I don't own my own home it is rented through social landlord, I am totally reliant on benefits due to being severely disable and have no assets at all Thanks for the replies everyone very much appreciated

Thanks brig and fko I do know there is no CCA for this ,when I cca'd the oc they admitted defeat and wrote saying no more collections activity to be taken Haven't heard anything since until this letter from lowell

Received letter from Lowell saying they bought alleged debt from gratten catalogue in 2010. Also received automated phone call saying if you are skegleg press 1 or if not press 2 of course I didn't press anything and hung up Last payment on this was April 2008 cca'd oc and they couldn't produce it because there wasn't one Now Lowell have sent letter, any ideas please , do I now CCA Lowell's Thanks skegleg

Hi surfer dont know what part of the country you are in but we have had the same here on the east coast, other half rang and they said housing benefit does cover it , although if this is the case only time will tell. I was panic stricken when this came through the door, as it was 7 pages of pure gobledygook, why they couldnt put things in plain speak is beyond me . just wanted to put your mind at ease that is isnt just you this has happened to hope it helps

receiving a bouquet of flowers from a debt collector today

Hi Blind as a bat good to hear from you Dont have a clue if lowells and cabot are connected, but it was a long battle to get something positive to happen, lowells just kept saying there was no dispute i kept saying there was, but after the last letter i wrote i think they realised i was ill and had nothing to give. good luck with your battles hope all works out for you Thanks so much citizenB very much appreciated, and dont you worry that letter is in the small safe we have with all their other letters so it is very safe Thanks so much for your help well Wincote Dont know what to say really, i think the flowers were sent because in the last letter they wanted proof of my disabilty, so although my GP wouldnt write to them i provided Proof and went into a bit of detail of how my illness affects me, i also told them i found this humiliating (because i did) but i think what detail i did go into probably made them feel either ashamed or sorry for me Hope you manage to get something sorted about your dispute and i hope my posts have at least showed some people that it might be a battle but not to give up

Received letter this morning from Lowell saying they confirm the balance of the account has been written off and account closed They have added my name to a stop list and will not contact me again either in relation to this account or any other account with my details which they may purchase in the future They have also sent me a lovely bouquet of flowers today so i would say this is a win thank you so much everyone for without your help and support i could not have done it

thanks for the replies wincote and godmother very much appreciated I have now written a letter telling them my GP will not entertain writing to them , but i have outlined my illness, photo copied my benefit award letters and deleted my national insurance number and basically told them that this is proof enough and all they need , and either write it off as they say or i will save any spare money to go bankrupt as i have no assets dont own my own home and have no earnings so the ball is in their court now

Help please anyone i sent a letter to lowells last week and i got a reply today (how quick is that) anyways the letter states Since receiving your last letter we have reconsidered your financial circumstances and your ill health. On the basis that you inform us you are severely disabled and without any admission of liability, we are able to consider writing off the balance and closing this account. To enable us to do so documentary proof of your ill health- a simple letter from your GP stating details of your ill health will suffice to allow us to create an internal audit trail to evidence the reason for the write off. I have contacted my GP surgery who say they do not do things like this and if they did it would cost me money which i dont have anyone have any ideas ?
