  2. Payment deadline = 6 May. Which is not a working day so the deadline is actually 5 May! Didn't realise that I was close to the payment deadline so paid my credit card off with a transfer from my Nationwide account on 4 May when I realised. Now if I transfer money from my Co-op account to my friend's Co-op account, the transfer goes through immediately so was a tad suprised (well not really ) when I was stung with the £20 late payment charge. After arming myself with all sorts of info from this site, I rang Nationwide up to 'innocently' query the charge expecting a bit of a battle. Before I could even start about the recent OFT declarations, the fella on the other end of the line said that the charge would be refunded as a "courtesy for managing my account well in the past" (only had a card with them since August last year but do tend to pay off the amount in full every month). Did ask about a default note being added to my credit file but was told that wouldn't be done since payment was imminent. Only thing is, I have to wait until my statement is sent out and then phone again before they will refund the charge, although my helpful customer assistant :o said he would put a note on my record to say that the refund should go through when I next call them. Its only small amount compared to what I've read most people are claiming, but better in my pocket than theirs One final note, had the same thing with Amex last year but said I wanted to cancel my card straight away and when asked, I told them why. They issued an immediate refund. My issue with Amex then was that I had occasionally missed the deadline by a day in the past and had never been charged before. Don't use it much nowadays anyhow!
