Hi, I've had a look thru this site, very interesting and immensley helpful, but I can't find a solution to my particular problem. My council tax was overdue and incurred the usual fees etc... 06/02/08 phoenix collections took on the debt. 14/02/08 phoenix supposedley sent a baliiff, I was in all day, I have a very alert dog too, only people I know visited that day. 04/03/08 I paid CT in full along with the extra fees etc direct to council. 07/03/08 I recieved a letter dated 05/03/08 from phoenix (this is the first communication I have had with them) which says: "Total oustanding £24.50 Following your recent payment direct to our client, we write to advise the above amount remains outstanding withour ( This means our bailiffs will attend your premises blah blah blah....." I know the amount is small but when I payed at the councils office I checked that the amount was up to date. After reading other posts it looks like phoenix are up to no good and trying it on, it is strange that I've had no communication from them since 06/02/08 and I receive a letter dated the day after I paid in full I ask, can phoenix enforce this amount? Is the liability order still valid and or enforcible? phoenix will not speak to me over the phone and explain what the £24.50 is for, can I in some official capacity request info Data Protection Act maybe? As far as the council is concerned, the matter with my debt is closed and they have no record of any charges being added to my account via phoenix.
