  1. Hi, There is not really much more can be said. All I had was a letter stating that on the 23rd April if I had not paid them by then, that they would instruct debt collectors. i do not know if they have been instructed or not. I have had no correspondence from Barnett Waddingham since 23rd March. The only reason I found out about the adverse entry was when I went to my bank to discuss something with them. I have a very good relationship with my bank, and they suggested that I look at my credit report.
  2. Hi, Thanks for your response. All correspondence I have had has been with Barnett Waddingham. There has been no mention in any letters from them stating that they are acting on behalf of anyone else. The last mail I received from them was on March 23rd. In it, it states that Barnett Waddingham has been appointed as administrator and payroll provider for the scheme. All they ask is for repayment of the pension overpayment. This was as a result of my father passing away end of November and the pension going into his account a week before his death. It was not noticed at the time and all monies in his account were used for his funeral. It was only a week or two later when I contacted Barnett Waddingham that I was informed of the overpayment. I then contacted them again explaining that there were no funds in his estate. however, there was a house that would be put on the market and when sold all debts would be paid out of that. I thought they were happy with this arrangement but since then I have received around four letters asking for the overpayment to be paid, with the last letter finishing with the statement that if the overpayment was not paid by the 23 April then they would instruct debt collectors to recover the payment. I am happy to honour his debts when the house is sold, until then I cannot afford to repay this overpayment. Thanks again for your help. Hope this extra info will help.
  3. Hi, Thanks for your reply. The only thing I use the card for is to transfer funds to a additional card that I have. I took out an additional card for a relative that lives in Poland. Every few months her company sends her to the UK to work, and while she is here she stays with me. I thought at the time it would be a good idea to get a card for her while she is here and if needed to send money to her when at home. Pockit were fully aware of all this when I applied for an additional card. She purchased some land in Poland along with her husband to build a house. I agreed to help them with funds and occasionally send her two to four hundred pounds. It's money that comes straight from my bank account onto my card, then transferred onto her card for her to use. This happens around every three to four months or so. So not an every day thing. She currently has £400 on her card that is blocked and I have £200 on mine.
  4. Thanks for your help. Was wondering if they were regulated.
  5. Thank you for your help. much appreciated, will get in touch with the credit reference agencies and request a notice of correction. Also tomorrow will contact Barnett Waddingham. Once again, thanks for your help.
  6. Hi, will try and get something when I can. I found out that they have entered details on my file when I went into my bank to see about an overdraft as with this coronavirus was having difficulty. The bank informed me that there was this marker on my file.
  7. Hi, It's no longer British Steel that runs the pension scheme. It's a company that is called Barnett Waddingham. These are the ones I have been dealing with as executor of my father's estate And these are the ones that have trashed my credit file. I'm happy to pay it once the house has been sold and funds are available. however, I cannot afford to pay it out of my own pocket and I'm unhappy about the fact that they have marked my credit file as my debt.
  8. Hi, My father passed away last November and he had a small company pension. Former British Steel. When he died I contacted all relevant companies. When I contacted his pension company I was informed that there was an overpayment on his pension of just under £800. I explained to them that there were no monies in his estate but that there was a property that would be put on the market within the next few months and then any funds owing would be paid out of that. This was acceptable to them at the time. since then, I have had letters from them stating that as they act as trustees of the pension they require payment. they have threatened me with debt collectors, which I know are toothless unless a court order has been granted. Despite writing to them, talking to them on the phone, and e mailing them, they still insist on payment. As you might be aware, during the current situation we cannot get estate agents to view the house or put it on the market. It's ready to go. My question, am I responsible for paying this debt out of my own pocket?. The funds will be there once the house is sold. And finally, this company has trashed my credit file, is there anything I can do about that?. Thanks for your help.
  9. Hi, I have a pre payment debit card with a company called Pockit. Two weeks ago I received an e mail from them stating that my account was blocked subject to them doing a review and requiring verification on the account. They asked for copies of passport with pic of me holding it and copies of utility bills, and also where I get my money from?. I e mailed them back and told them that I would not be sending them that information as that would leave me open to identity fraud. They did not require any of this information when I applied for the card and as such I feel that they do not require it now. I must state that in the two years that I have had this card this is the second review I have had from them. Last time they did not ask for as much information, and last time I told them the same thing I would not supply the info they wanted as I felt it wasn't required. In the end after around four weeks and threats of court action they lifted the block. Looking at their web site I see that there are numerous complaints about their actions, they seem to conduct reviews only when there is funds on the cards and not when there is a zero balance. They encourage people to deposit wages and benefits onto their cards and then block them from getting access to their funds with no warning. Additional, I have a secondary card with them that I applied for a friend so that I could send funds to her when needed. They have also blocked that account with funds on the card. Other than threaten court action again, is there anything else I can do to get them to lift the block and allow me access to my funds?. Looking forward to your suggestions.
  10. Thanks, I am aware of the terms and cannot see where I or my friend have breached them. I supplied them with her name, my address that she was residing at, and her dob before they even issued her with an additional card. They had this information but are now insisting on further information that she cannot give. I have asked them to refund the amounts on her card to my account as the primary cardholder and been ignored. Looking at other forums about this company it would seem that they do this to cardholders quite regularly. they encourage customers to place their wages and benefits onto their cards, then block them for weeks at a time, leaving people without any funds. What are your views on my instigating a chargeback?.
  11. Hi, Don't know if this is the right place?. If not please feel free to move it. Ok, my problem. A few months ago I applied for a pre payment Mastercard with a company called Pockit. Found it convenient and was reasonable. I also applied for an additional card for a friend that was staying at my address while studying, she is from abroad so thought it would be handy for her, I could top up her card and she could use it both here and back home. Things were going fine until she went back home, Poland. She used the card a few times with no problems, then she went on holidays to Crete, and while she was out there, I tried to top up her card via mine and found that it was rejected. I contacted Pockit to find out what the problem was and was informed that they had blocked the card as they wanted to undertake further checks on my friend. They required a copy of her passport, evidence of her residency here in the UK, copy of utility bills in her name, Where the money had come from, and evidence of earnings. Other than the passport she didn't have any of the other documentation. She stayed at my home address, so didn't have any residency proof or utility bills in her name. And the money on the card was from my account. We received no notification that there was a problem or that they were going to put a block on her card. This all came out of the blue, and left her stranded while she was away. When they blocked the card thee was over £1600 balance on her card. I have written to them stating that we cannot supply the documentation that they want other than the passport, they have refused to unblock the card or refund the monies on it. It has now been over a month. I asked them to refund the monies back on to my card as originally, it was my money to start with, they reply with until they receive the documents asked for they will not unblock the card and we cannot get access to the monies on there. I have been pondering with the idea of going to my bank and asking for a chargeback, as the monies were originally topped onto my card via my bank account before being transferred onto her card. I am in limbo and want to try and get the money returned as soon as possible. Just to reiterate, I am the primary cardholder, her card can only be used to withdraw what funds are on it that go through my card, she cannot top up her card or anything else other than through the primary card. Final point, They are asking my friend for all this information not me, my card is still active and I would have thought that if they had concerns they would have asked me or this information as i'm the primary cardholder. Thanks for your help.
  12. Hi, I'm having problems with three network. Basically, they phone me on my landline number approx twice a day and have been for the past week asking for a person that I do not know and has never lived at our address. I have asked them very politely to remove my details from their system which they promise to do and yet a couple of hours later I get yet another phone call from them.. They seem to be calling from an Indian call centre.... so... does anyone have the name and contact details of their chief exec as I fancy calling him throughout the night to let him know... see how he likes it.. cheers. Mike.
  13. Hi dx, Many thanks for your help, however, the stat interest sheet does not seem to work on my system when I try to open it it transfers into works and comes up as containing over two hundred errors, and when it does open, once I put the info in it calculates number of days elapsed wrong and does not calculate interest rate at all. Is there anything else that I can try?. Thanks Mike..
  14. Hi, I am about to look at claiming ppi from first plus. I've looked through the forum and tried to make sense of my account but after a recent illness my brain does not work as good as it once did. I would appreciate it if anyone would look at my figures and see if I have got this right... Many thanks.. Loan started Sept 1998: Ammount £21,200 Ppi £4,200 Apr 14.9% Monthly ppi £56.36 This ammount has varied between £53.89 when my interest rate went down, to what I am now paying and have been since 2007 £58.47 with an interest rate of 16.7% Total ppi payment £9,331.87 Interest at 8% £5,492.40 Total claiming £14,824.27 I know the monthly rates are correct however, it is the 8% interest rate that I am unsure of ?. Can anyone confirm these for me Thank you for your help... Mike..
  15. Hi Dave, Thanks for the reply. It will be a few days before I can get to this car park however I will have a look at some of the other council car parks and see if the boards say the same thing. The only thing added to these boards relating to bb holders is a small squre that says something along the lines of blue badge holder dispensation is no longer applicable in council car parks. The council have erected new boards and ticket machines throughout their car parks over the past few months as they have increased their charges on all. In some places by as much as 100%. The tickets are not transferable to any other authority car parks and they have the names of the car parks printed on them when you purchase them. All of this is fairly new so I will have to see what turns up over the next couple of days. Maybe tommorow I will have a word with our local councillor see if he can shed any light.. Once again thanks for your replies... Mike..
  16. Thanks for all your replies. It's Neath Port Talbot Council. He needed to go to the bank on Station Road which is a pedestrian area that has no vehicular access after I think 10:30 so had to use the car park behind the bank which he has always done when visiting said area. He then had to go to the main shopping precinct which is all under one roof and has a multi story car park attached. This he does approx once every three weeks or so to do his shopping. He has no problem paying for his parking and he had to really be pushed to apply for bb in the first place. However, I think it would be fair if the parking tickets were transferable between the council car parks then all would be treated equally.. Once again thanks for your replies.
  17. Hi, Bit of a query, did not know if this is in the right place if not please feel free to move. Okay here goes. My father is a bb holder and as such up until begining of June the local council has given dispensation for bb holders parking in council run car parks ie free parking for three hours etc. Now yesterday my father went to town to go to the bank, the car park he used is less than twenty metres from the bank and it is ideal for him. However, when we were walking out of the car park I happended to notice the car park t&c's and noticed that there was no longer dispensation and so my father had to pay a pound for one hour min parking. This we have no problem with but after leaving the bank my father had to go to another part of town which was too far for him to walk and which has another car park within a few metres. So we leave car park one and drive to car park two, upon arriving at car park two we find that he has to pay another pound to park there as again no longer dispensation. This he does, goes about his shopping and then goes on his way. Now my query, An able bodied person could park in car park one, pay for an hour and access all of the shopping area within that hour. A less able bodied or disabled person could not do that and so to access the same shoing area has to pay twice or three times as much. Is this fair or even legal?. Your thoughts on this are much appreciated... Many thanks Mike.
  18. Ok, so no advice so far, Little bit more info. Since my brothers death my father has been making monthly payments on his mortgage however, over the past two months my father has struggled to meet the payments and as such he has gone into arrears to the tune of approx £400. He sent the mortgage co a letter stating that he was having difficulty in paying and would they accept reduced ammount. They sent him an income and expenditure questionairre (six pages) which he is refusing to fill in (my father is eighty years old, has never been in debt in his life, is a very private person and lives frugally on a state pension and a very small steel works pension). This co has also threatened him with default on his credit file. This is what is upseting him the most as he comes from an age where debt was frowned upon. Okay main questions...Can the company enforce the terms and conditions of mortgage onto my father even though he was not the person who took out the mortgage?. Can they place a report on his credit file as they have threatened to do?. Can they insist that he pays the full monthly ammount even though he has told them he cannot afford this?. Hope someone here can help or if not point me in the right direction in dealing with this.. Thanks.
  19. Hi, Bit long so hope you will bear with me. My younger brother died 16 months ago, he had a mortgage with West Brom, Upon his death my father became benificiary of his house, however, he has not been able to cope with my brother's death and so my brother's estate has been left for me to deal with. This includes paying the mortgage and then being re-embursed from my father. I have had no problem with this at all. My brother was in credit on his mortgage and as such we were not liable for payments until Oct 10, In Sept my father recieved a letter from West Brom informing him that we would have to start making payments as of Oct. In this letter there was no info at all regarding this mortgage and so we had to guestimate the monthly payments. Come Oct I phoned company to make first payment all went through ok, whilst on phone I tried to get info needed re this mortgage ie, no of years left, redemption figures etc. The company rep informed me that as my father was benificiary he would have to give authorisation for them to speak to me. Had no problem with that and letter of authorisation was sent to West Brom begining on Nov. Through the next four months everything was going fine, I was making payment monthly and they were happy. Come begining of Jan I phoned company to arrange making a payment to cover five months rather than on a month by month basis. Girl I spoke to at the time looked on her files and stated that she could not discuss account with me as they did not have authorisation from my father. Explained that letter had been sent out begining of Nov giving authorisation, they claimed that nothing was recieved and so another letter was duly sent. At that time I made a payment for four months. Middle of April I recieved the yearly statement from West Brom, It was addressed as Per Reps of Mr xxxxx My brothers name. Mr yyyyy My name at zzzzz address My address. Two days ago my father recieved a letter from West Brom stating that mortgage was in arrears by a month and they wanted payment immediately plus £40 arrears fee. I will have this letter tomorrow. My father phoned them straight away and tried to determine the facts. They stated that account was in arrears by a month and they wanted that paid straight away plus arrears fee plus this months payment which is not due until the end of next week, She stated that if he did not pay this then they would pass the file to their debt collection dept and he would incure more fees in excess of £100. My father tried to make a payment there and then but they would not accept his credit card payment. They only take debit payments. Today I phoned them to try and find out what was going on. Upon getting through I gave account details, name, address etc only to be told that as they had no authorisation then they could not discuss account with me!!! Explained that letters had been sent out Nov and Jan giving authorisation but they were having none of it as by discussing account with me they would be breaching dpa and they could be fined. At that stage I asked them if they had no authorisation then why did they send me annual statements? after being put on hold for a few minutes their operator came back on the line and said " I must be mistaken they have no record of sending statements to my address"!!!. :|I must be dreaming then. At that stage I stated that I would have to take this further as if as they state above then they have breached dpa by sending me the statements. I was again put on hold and after a few minutes I was then informed that as I was now disputing the facts then they would not discuss further. I then tried to make a payment on mortgage and they refused to accept payment off me. However, she did tell me that they would still continue with terms stated in letter sent to my father, ie, if arrears not paid by end of next week they would refer to their debt dept. I am livid with these people. How can they be so incompetent. Since my brother's death I have spoken and written to them numerous times and kept them informed of situation, not once have they ever replied to us other then Sept re payments from Oct and this threatening letter. The house is on the market, has been since last year (July), outstanding ammount on mortgage is approx a quarter of market value so when sold they will get their money in full and yet they still threaten my father like this.. Looking for help as to my next step basically, any ideas? Thanks for your help and thank you for looking at my post...
  20. Hi, Just a bit more info, The day after they came to initially view the house they sent me a sales pack that we had to sign and agree to take the house off the market with our initial estate agent. This pack contained a letter that said that once they recieve the signed documents they will instruct an independant surveyor to value the property. It also stated that based on what they had seen the day before that they would happily offer us £78000 (subject to valuation) and that this offer may go up or down dependant on valuation. But it would be roughly 65% of market value. They also stated that they would pay our costs up to a limot of £900.
  21. Hi, The paperwork was signed after their initial visit with their valuer on sight who quoted 120k. conversation went something like this: company: How much are you looking to sell for?. Me: Well its currently on the market for 150k. Them: Oh thats far too high. A more realistic value would be 120k. Me: Well I think thats too low. Them: Ok tell you what we will get an independant valuer to look at it and then we will go from there ok. Me: Ok we,ll do that then. Present day. Still waiting for independant valuation. However, last month I typed in our address into google and suddenly there was our house up for sale with this estate agent I have never heard of before with "For sale four bedroom house in quiet area of xxx well maintained no chain price £149950. So this property co have placed our house on the market with their own estate agent ie property agent and estate agent are one and the same according to companies house for just under 150k but are still insisting that the value is only 120k and are only prepared to buy from us at 65% of 120k.
  22. Just to clarify a few things. This co contacted us when they came around to view the house they had a guy with them who they said would give us a value for property. He valued it at 120k we said its on the market and valued at 150k. Their valuer stated that that price was far too much. So what was decided was that an independant valuer would look at house and decide the price, but they still insisted that the house was only worth 120k. This is what we have been waiting for. However they have it advertised on a web site that they own as for sale at 150k, so our original value was correct but they are trying to get it off us for 65% of 120k not what it is actually for sale for. Hope that helps..
  23. Hi, thanks for your reply. We have the keys back and are in the process of having locks changed. Re selling for 65% of value, yes we agreed that but they gave us a provisional value of 120k and they have it on their site for 150k so they are trying to give us 65% of 120k not 150k.
