  1. OMG this is too scary. Don't know about taking them to court. Can I just ask what is MCOL?
  2. It's 14 days today since I sent the Abbey my second letter giving them 14 days to respond.Obviously I'll wait a few more days yet but I was wondering what my next move should be.Do I write again or just wait and hope that I do hear from them.
  3. I know what you mean I once got a tax rebate for 7p the lady in the bank thought I was mad when I payed it into my account so I explained that even if it had been for 1p, because it was the inland revenue ,I would have cashed it!!
  4. you misunderstood me I know exactly the value of £500 and am not blase about the amount I didn't want other people to think I was reclaiming thousands that's all.
  5. My claim is only for £500 approx I feel quite insignificant now haha!I wish it was for thousands. Do you think the amount makes a difference?
  6. Thank you I've printed that off now and I'll post it tomorrow.Should I ring the FOS anyway or wait to see what the banks response is first do you think.
  7. I've had a reply already I can't believe it but it's not good. Basically they are saying that there is a court case at the moment and because of that they will not be able to do anything at the moment and if I apply to the court they will just go and apply for a stay until the court case is over. What shall I do now?Is there another letter I should send or do I do as they say and wait for the outcome of the court case.I'm sure when I started this someone said that the case was nothing to do with business accounts. Are they trying to fob me off?
  8. Ah thanks,I hadn't discovered this Abbey board before I sent my letter only the newbie bit!! I have to say I'm not hopeful but it's worth a try.I have just finished moving all of my accounts away from the Abbey anyway so there isn't much harm in trying I suppose.
  9. With my Abbey business account it was free banking but there were then added charges for exceeding £3000 paid in within 1 calendar month.I have added these to my claim but now I'm starting to think I've done my claim all wrong I just listed every charge |I had in the last five years(duration of account)added the interest and sent it to them with the template letter.
  10. Reading further into this I think I've made a huge mistake right at the beginning!!I used the interest calculator to work out how much my charges came to but I sent them a copy of the whole thing including interestadded but now I've read more I think I should have just sent a list of the original charges will this make a difference to my claim?
  11. Thanks saintly-1 I have been reading through for a couple of weeks but I will keep reading so that I'm up to date with whats going on.
  12. Unfortunately I haven't got any old aunties or uncles lol. I appreciate your help I have now posted my letter to the Abbey(it's now in it's third envelope!!)so I'll just wait and see what happens.
  13. I see thank goodness I checked before going out to post my letter!! Thanks for your help.Do you know if the ombudsman charge for their help?
  14. Thanks maroondevo52.I can't believe that I really toyed with whether or not to start reclaiming today anyway I decided to but didn't have any stamps, how glad am I. Do you think I should write a covering letter to the ombudsman explaining that I was going to write direct to the Abbey and still enclose the letter I wrote to them plus the list of charges?
  15. Today I have decided to send my letter to the Abbey reclaiming my bank charges. Thanks for your help.I know it's all on hold at the moment but as I read a post on hear that said if you don't put your claim in you definately won't get anything back so it's worth a try.
  16. Hiya thought I'd introduce myself.I'm Di and used to own a small business.I have been wanting to claim back my bank charges for over a year now and have never really had the courage.I only hope I haven't left it too late now with this court case thats going on at the moment.I think I'll spend a few days reading through this site and then give it a go what have I got to lose? Can I just ask one quick question because it was a business account I have all my bank statements so can I use them or am I best to apply for them again from the bank?
