  1. Metropolitan Collection Services , Help needed for my friend in relation to the above company , I have have received sound advice from the kind people on this forum over the years regarding this and many other issuue and am truly grateful for your time and patience ! Anyway metropolitan have sent my friend monthly demand letters for increase in payments since 18 of Jan last year . He is at present paying £60 / month and they demand a monthly increase of another £ 60 which is wel over his means . There is an attatched form which states that he confirms that he is able to increase the payment to £60 but there is no mention on the form that he cannot make an increase in payments and therefore there was no point in filling in the attached form . Last week he received a different letter from Metropolitan stating that because they have not racieved any response for their request ( demand ) for an increase in payments , they are left with no alternative but to apply anautomatic increase to his payment plan . Any suggestions on what to do next would be much appreciated
  2. Helo ! I am seeking advice on a letter that i received this morning from Metropolitan Collection Services Limited . It states that my temporary arrangement has now expired and that they require an increase in payments . They state that failure to reply within 14 days may result in the concession to pay by instalments being withdrawn and legal proceedings may be issued for recovery of full outstanding balance . they also state....OUR RECORDS SHOW THAT YOU ARE THE OWNER ( of my home ) THEREFORE , SHOULD LEGAL ACTION BE NECESSARY , IT WILL BE OUR INTENTION TO SECURE OUR CLIENT'S INTEREST IN WAY OF A CHARGING ORDER ON YOUR PROPERTY . Has anyone got advice on this on how to stop the rise in payments ?? I have not missed a single payment to Metropolitan in over 2 years . The money they are seeking was an overdraft of £ 15,000 with HSBC that i was unable to re pay when they demanded the whole amount back after I was unable to keep up with the charges !
  3. The Bank of England has cut interest rates to 2% . Principality Building Society's standard rate of interest is 5.99 % ( as of today 4 / 12 /08 ). That is 4% above base rate and 2% above Cheltenham and Gloucester's standard rate of interest . Why are they not passing on the full amount of interest rate cuts to their customers here in Wales ?
  4. I signed up to wanadoo/orange broadband around two years ago and when the initial contract came to an end I was sweet talked into another contract with orange with promises of free phone calls using the wireless/inventel box . Everything was fine for the first 6 months and the free landline calls saved me a few hundred pounds on my BT landline bill . However after upgrading my computer to vista last November i got this error code saying that there was compatibility issues between my computer and the cohiba router supplied by inventel . Four months later , and loads of calls to orange technical department followed by 3 installation discs and the wireless still does not work . I can receive broadband via the usb port but i cannot use the free orange telephone . The reason I signed up for a second term was because of the money saving free phone and now that it is not working and because of the dreadful customer service , I have written to orange to state that they have not supplied me with the product that was advertised ( since wireless and talk is only wireless without the talk ) and that the wireless is , according to the contract , their property , and therefore theirs to repair , since I am only paying rent on it . Therefore I wish to terminate the contract . They have supplied me with the MAC code but insist that if I sign off they will be seeking the full outstanding payment . Should I just stop the standing order and call their bluff ? or stay with orange just in case it will cost me more down the line . Any suggestions please .
  5. Hello , how are you today ? I am making enquiries on behalf of residents of the local trust in my home town and to cut a long story short their rent has more than doubled over the past two years from an average of £40 per week to over £80 . We live in an economically deprived area where the average gross income is under £12,000 . The trust itself was started in 1890 for the purpose of maintaining and managing income and property ( 26 houses )after the dissolution of a local corporation .The trust responsibilities can be summarized as follows ; 1/ Defraying costs of repair and maintenance and all their charges . 2/ When all other costs and obligations have been met , to give support and assistance to other organizations operating for the benefit of the public within the community . the trust is an UNINCORPORATED REGISTERED CHARITY with total funds as of 30 /9 / 2006 .... £299,516 The unrestricted funds are .... £299,516 income from rent and interest is ... £72,000 The trust states that the reason for the rental increase is because of a directive / instructions from the big boys down in London . The tenants don't believe this and their wish is to set up a residents action group to confront the trustees . Any suggestions please .
