  1. Retention of a plate is usually straight forward. Done online is seconds. But sometimes has to be done via post. So chirrished plate goes on retention and original plate goes onto the car you are selling. Can be done when V5c is submitted when Carbis sold. Like we did
  2. Thanks. We already spoke to the police and now they are aware of it. I tried calling my buyer yesterday and went straight to VM as did the trader. My buyer has literally just called me and said he told the trader the plates were not included. But that's not what the trader thinks. Hopefully he is getting the picture that we are not letting this go. Will post the letters today. Thanks BF
  3. Hi Guys. Hope some one can answer this for me. I recently sold a car which had my private reg on it. The deal was for me to send off the V5c form and the relevant form plus fee to allow me to retain the reg number. the car would then return to is original historic number. The new owner has signed the receipt which clearly stated this. We are still awaiting the retention certificate from Dvla. They are 6 weeks behind on this. We supplied the new owner with a set of original number plates ready for when the log book arrives with the original reg number on it. There has been an SMS conversation also which I still have. he was fully aware and fully agreed to this. See the receipt. Yesterday we learned he has sold the car on with our reg number on to a car dealer who knows nothing of my arrangements with the the guy I sold it to. Now I believe he has done nothing wrong. He bought the car in good faith but has been stung by my buyer. Also trader was unaware of any issues with the car. We sold it with issues and our buyer is fully aware of them. the trader has been mis sold the car. Am I correct in thinking that this is theft by my buyer and if the trader sells that car with my plates on then he is a party to that that theft. Its all complicated but I am in the belief that the private reg is legally still mine. As far as I am aware the reg transfer is going forward although they haven't cashed my cheque yet. But Dvla are slow at doing that anyway. I have included a copy of the receipt. Any help or advice would be appreciated. letter.pdf

  16. Let me clarify, the guy was our landlord, he let the property fall into disrepair, i dont want to get into the nitty gritty but we have grounds to sue him for that disrepair amongst other things. So the contract was in england, not international, he has an.address where we can serve legal papers on him over here in the uk also via his own address in australia too. He has a representative here for his rentals as required by uk law. We have a solicitor on the case but he cant secure an indemnity policy on the case as of yet. Thats why we are looking at sueing him our selves. I understand getting the courts decision in our favour is only 1/3 the battle, enforcing it is the rest, we can get the same company that is on tv cant pay program to enforce down under or we can place charge on his property, therebare several options should the decision go our way. But how do i avoid being.landed with his bill is my concern
  17. The person in australia is operating a business here, ie two rental properties, so that will allow for persueing him hete iiac
  18. Hi guys I am owed a considerable amout by a private individual to the tune of approx 13k. Issue is, they are living in australia, but have considerable assets in england by way of two properties. If i took a small claim out against them and lost, is there any way i can be held accountable for their costs, i am just after a decision and will then look at enforcing the order later on, i know that wouldnt be easy but its the court aspect i am looking at first.
  19. it was years ago now and asfaicr i did get a response
  20. I have been a member on here for 11 years give or take a month or two. When i joined i worked for minimum wage at a bacon factory in Blackpool, it was an ok job, i enjoyed it, but the money was very poor, i was in debt, paying the bank in late payment fees every week, switching banks due to owing money etc, Constantly playing catchup with car finance. which was £50 a week!! i was in a right ole pickle, i had 3 kids a wife and a dog, lived in a rented home. only benefits we claimed was Child benefit and WTC In 2006 i heard about the bank charge reclaiming that was going on, on the Jeremy Vine show on radio 2 iirc. i set about on my last bank which was Barclays, recovered £1600. i made the car finance people a lump sum offer of 1200 to pay the finance off and the accepted it. meanwhile, i was no reclaiming Halifax, capital one and a couple for wifey too. Christmas 2006 was best ever, we had recovered about 6k more, paid off all out debts and had about 2.5k left for xmas. We had always wanted our own home, but as you would expect, we were always laughed out of the bank. At this point, our credit history was really bad, credit score was -1000 lol. after xmas we had about £1500 left, a cloud loomed, back to square one with debt?? £1500 wouldnt last long, so wifey n i stuck our heads together and came up with a plan, with the remainder, i went to an IT auction and bought a load of I.T.tech, which included computers, laptops printers etc, St start of my business. I fixed up 10 of the laptops and sold them on ebay. put that money, profit n all, back into more stock. a so it went on, i was buying and selling allsorts by now, things off carboot sales, local auction houses, found a local guy who would sell me cheap laptops, Two months later i handed my notice in at my work. i then set about repairing our credit files, taking off all that was out of date etc, that took about 12 months to get sorted. The home we rented had fallen under massive disrepair as the LL lived down under 10 years down the road, we had saved up 21k, on May 20th this year, i took possession of the keys to my own home with a 16k deposit, mortgage with RBS who i have to say, were fantastic, at the ripe old age of 48, i now have a pension worth 22k,not much by some standards, but to us, its a win win, all thanks to this site and a little reading from else where. Been self employed for all this time now and loving it, we were able to help put my daughter through university by letting her live rent free etc with us, she still needed student loans tho. Thankyou to Bankfodder and the team for this site. I have donated along the way as its only right. Any one else any one else out there with similar stories
  21. yes he signed a sheet for each claim, agreed, so easy to do it your self
  22. A close friend of mine has come to me with an issue he has with these nice people. He is a very busy guy, so approached them to run PPI checks, he understand they take a wapping 35%. he had 4 results, cap one £160+, Natwest £700+ 300+ from another NWest and some other for £70+, He is YET to be paid out for the 2 larger ones, the other two sent the cheques to the claims guys, They called him up and informed him they would offset the smaller ones against what he owes on the other two, yet to be paid out, bear that in mind. minimum fees for the two larger ones is £350 :o0 and approx £80 for the other two £80 was fees of the small ones and £150 kept and off set against the other £350, he has an invoice asking for approx £200 for the larger two. He was talking to me this morning and he explained what was the situation, he was ok with it.. .until i pointed out, they have breeched their own agreement with him!! As he has NOT been paid for the larger two, and taking into account they run a system where you do not pay them until you have been paid, offsetting the other money is indeed breeching their own rules and agreement he has with them. be warned, these people WILL keep money owed to you BEFORE you get paid for any larger refunds. he has contacted them and is negotiating a outcome, i do not known what is the end result. I just thought this needs to be highlighted and a warning for any one out there to be careful
  23. January 2001, AST, which is now a rolling tenancy, we reported the place to the local authority several times and tbh, they were useless. We believed the LL & LA when they said they would bring up the standards of the property. They have issues us with a S21 with error which i wont go into. NO we are not content with it, we have lived here for a long time, we have paid our rent on time every time so we deserve a nice house to live in, we believed their promises, trying to keep the LL on the wrong foot, seriously, how does that work lol, again, rent on time every time. we have fitted a kitchen, bathroom, made repairs to garage roof etc, we are bloody good tenants, the LL and LA are a disgrace
  24. We have applied for a mortgage so we are looking to get out, why should we move because our LL wont do the repairs, this is our home and has been for a long time, we kept being promised the repairs
