  1. Personally, I always used to make an effort to smoke more, lol . But thats probably just because I'm the rebellious type. I did give up when the smoking ban came into force in Scotland, which I think was 1st March 2006, and I'm sure they had a no smoking day that day, but it was more to do with me having to walk half a mile to get outside the hospital grounds where I worked than actual no smoking day. I think that quit lasted about oooooooo 5 days?
  2. Hi Everyone, Thanks for your messages Still here, day 9 for me!!! Doing really well actually, the Champix are fabulous, I can't recommend them enough. I've read Allen Carr's book too though and I definitely think that has made a huge difference, from a psychological point of view! I feel different this time, like I'm definitely going to do it. I swore on my sons life yesterday, to my mum, that i am never going to smoke again. I've also lost half a stone, which blows away the myth about gaining weight. I haven't felt the need to eat more at all, maybe because I'm making a conscious effort to eat less, who knows? Definitely feeling the difference in my running training too with my breathing. Keep up the good work everyone! C xxxx
  3. Lol at me, what a twit, I just realised how old the original thread is!!! Now wondering what happened with the dress?!?!?!?
  4. OMG I am so sorry to hear this and I have been through a very similar thing. I put my dress into an ironing company to get ironed two weeks before my wedding (my mum made my dress and neither of us wanted to risk burning it!). It came back with four big slashes on it. To cut a long story short, they denied liability and I ended up taking them to small claims (which I think is over your limit). I only got £150 out of them (8 years ago), which was basically the cost of material for my mum to make a new skirt for the dress. The point of my post was to say, negotiate with them if its any way possible for you to keep your dress and get the £600 given that you can probably have a new skirt put onto the dress for that cost. Obviously if you haven't been married yet they can't keep the dress. Are you covered by your house insurance at all? I totally sympathise, I remember the sick feeling I had when I took my dress out the bag!!! C xxx
  5. Just a wee update from me. Feeling FANTASTIC! Still no cravings and just loving these tabs. Gonna do it this time!
  6. Hi Everyone, Thanks for the welcome. Well as of today I am a non-smoker . The Champix are working fabulously, even better than I felt on the Zyban!!! I feel totally free and its a wonderful feeling. I haven't had anything near what I would describe as a craving, I've had the odd fleeting though, which I think is more habit as I've been going to do a bit of work and thought "I'll just have a ciggie then do that", then oops no I won't have a ciggie, I'll just do it, lol. I have done the opposite of all the advice and am trying to make a huge lifestyle change rather than just smoking. I am trying to exercise and lose weight, so over the past two weeks I have bought a treadmill, which I've been using and I've completely changed my diet. I'm also trying to go to bed earlier and night and get up earlier in the morning. All of this is stopping me obsessing over stopping smoking, as I have other things to obsess over IYKWIM. Also, I'm trying to take up running as a hobby and seeing smoking as a barr to this. Everything I'm trying to change is all linked, so its a major life change for me. I'm also going out for a half hour walk at lunch break from work. Normally I would have a cigarette on my outwards 15 mins and another on the backwards 15 mins. Today I walked very briskly and its a beautiful day, I was on my own (I normally go with a colleague) and I really did just feel FREE. Its a good feeling, and this IS my last attempt at stopping smoking, and it IS going to work. Thanks for "listening" to my rant, I just wanted to get my feelings out. Take care. C xxx
  7. Hi Everyone, newbie alert! Just thought I'd introduce myself as I hope to be here for a long time. I started Champix last Wed and plan on stopping tommorow, well will have my last cig before bed tonight. I stopped last year for 17 weeks using Zyban and found it fantastic, however I did have some nasty side effects, such as feeling a bit mental for the first few weeks. I slipped though after finding myself having the odd one or two whilst drinking and before I knew it by September I was a fulltime smoker again. I've found the Champix much nicer to take and wasn't really that convinced by them until yesterday, when i was thinking I don't really want to smoke now. I seem to be smoking just for the sheer hell of it because I know I'm stopping. Kind of a smoke as much as you can now before you stop thing. I've definitely noticed that I'm disliking the taste more too. I've had a few nauseous episodes, one particularly nasty, but its not all the time and taking the tab with food or having a coffee (which I don't normally drink) definitely helps. Good luck to everyone else already on the journey. I hope to "see" you all around. C xxx
