  1. yes i think closing the account is your best bet. Abbey play nasty when it comes to charges im afraid. I would also highly recommend calling to make sure your account is closed. At the min it is taking aprox 4-6 months to close accounts!! They will fob you off with delays/backlogs/etc just make sure they do it!!
  2. Yes cetainly i agree with you. I was working in the call centre and found that alot branch if not most refuse to do anything for the cust. Most include allowing them to wait in line to be told to phone us for there balance or simple transactions. This is after all apart of their job description! They are simply focused on opening new accounts/credit cards/mortages etc
  3. Thank you for your reply. The first thing i noticed is that no, i did not recieve pay slips during the period of absence. I recieve weekly pay and as such weekly pay slips. I have no proof of earnings or in this case proof of 'no' earnings during this time. My bank statement however will show no money was paid into the account. Also i did not recieve a letter of dismissal! Should i have? I only have an email stating my contract had ended due to absence and that the company expected me back to work on the monday however my sick line was untill the Thursday. I have checked all my pay slips that I have and was actualy emlpoyed by the company for 20 weeks. I have all records of my sick line and self cert during this time, yes.
  4. I know that Abbey insure up to £30,000 per account. Anything above is not covered! Also wanted to air my anger in the fact fraud dept. is only open Mon -- Fri 9-5?? do people only commit fraud in these times??? i watched someones account be cleared out and couldnt say anything to the poor woman due to the FSA . she was in for a shock on monday morning :[ I couldnt report it untill then and i couldt advise a cust that there was fraudulent activity on the account either
  5. to be honest i dont have a factual answer for this question. However, i believe the logs are not deleted. Even when an account is closed we still keep the information regarding the customer. surely the call logs would be kept as well? ill try and find out - however i am no longer employed by abbey
  6. What I learned from working for Abbey is that the branches are not there to deal with your banking needs, they are essentialy a shop, selling products. If you have an enquiry they will point you everywhere but them to deal with it, either by phone, post, fax, internet. Its unreal! They are trying to wean customers from visiting a local branch and putting the focus on selling products in branch !!
  7. Hi there, I joined littlewoods last week and opened a credit account. I order a few items which clearly stated online would definatly be delivered today. I also called and spoke to 3 people who comfirmed the details. No items arrived. No note left. Nothing next doors. ?? When i try to log in online to email them regarding this (phone line is down at the min) i find i cant log in. It states if details are incorrect please call them?? I spoke to them this morning and they said they needed further credit checks even though i had been accepted = i gave them the further details and they ran a wprrying second credit check. passed again and confirmed order. I came home from the phone box and i cant log in?? I dont know whats going on with my account and am concerned over xmas presents arriving on time! or at all now its been over 12 hours and still not a ble to log in :S i have recieved items from them last week, so seems to be ok dispatching items to me. Whats the hold up now??
  8. I work for a recruitment agency who placed me in a perm to temp position in a bank back in August 07. I recently took ill and was signed off work for 14 days. The employer fired me due to absence and refused to pay my SSP. They stated i took 3 days off AWOL. However my sickline covered this timeframe. I was only aware contract had ended when i contacted them to say i will definatly be returning to work on said date. I did not recieve SSP. I have emails which show clearly that this is the reason for dismissal. Can they do this? Fire me for showing i really was ill?? I appreciate i am an agency worker but i was advised i have basic rights within the workplace. I called everyday when self certifyed and even maintained excessive communication when on sick line to keep everyone updated on my health. I followed all t+c to best of my knowledge and tried to be as helpfull as possible Also my employer awarded me a £60 for winning a competition in Oct - i still havent recieved the money and they have made no comment after several enquiries. I dont think i will reiceve this - are they obliged to pay? Thanks for your time
