  1. The last time I had anything to do with the house was about 11yrs ago, when I made a payment on the morgage before leaving, since then I have never received anything from the building society or my ex-wife to suggest there was any problem with the account, should I just ignore them, returning post as "no longer at this address" or should I go on the run :o. Joking aside I am remarried with a young family and the idea of owing £25k is pretty worrying. Cheers,
  2. Hi all, I found this site while trying to find information about a debt that untill a couple of weeks ago I never knew I had, I left an unfaithfull wife some 11 yrs ago, before leaving I paid the morgage up to date and handed my keys to my wife, the verbal agreement we had was that she would keep the house and keep up the then small morgage. Since leaving I have had no contact with my ex-wife, I recently received a letter from an asset recovery company informing me that they had bought a debt of £25k from the building society who handled the morgage. I have returned to my old home and have now confirmed that the house was re-possesed a number of yrs ago. The morgage was in both my name and my then wifes. the company concerned have rung the house on a number of occasions and written several times, up to now I have not responded in any way. On the one hand they threaten court action with very large costs and interest, then in the next breath they offer me the chance to set up a direct debit of a mere £10 per month, I have now received a vaguely threatening letter that appears to be from a soliciter but again offers the £10 per month option but instead of bearing a signature it has the name of the company hand written then typed, To date I have not acknowledged any of their calls or letters, where do I stand, Cheers, SeaWraith.
