  1. Thanks for the info !! Its only for just over 300 quid but as i say i never knew about it until today when the company i want an account with rang me to say they couldnt give me the 6mth interest free on the starting stock due to this. They searched with Experian so I dont know if its just on there, I pay for Equifax and my records clean and havent been turned down for anything that i have applied for but apart from my CC i usually never ask for credit but as this was quite a large amount i thought id use the 6 months. Dont get me wrong if i owe the monies then im happy to pay it but if that means ruining what otherwise is a perfect record then i would much rather leave it and if they do renew it then pay it straight away and have the 6 years as a satified default What baffles me is that this has never been brought up before in 5 years and 10 months Any other advice is welcome Thanks Again ARHHHHH Credit always makes hard work of everything lol
  2. Hi Guys and Gals I have just started a business and applied for an account only to be told i have a CCJ, the judgement was made 1st Jan 2003, I never knew about it and it isnt on my Equifax CR. I had no idea this was there and always thought my CR was perfect and have some good credit etc with banks, but have now been refused the account..... So a couple of questions, 1) Will this just drop of my CR in jan 2009 2) If i try to find out about it and pay it then does it sit on my record for another 6 years as a satisfied CCJ ? Any help would be great Thanks:-?
  3. I travelled with them in 2006 to Japan and they were awesome infact 8 flights with them have all been good and couldnt do enough for me and the wife, This time on the way it was OK but nothing to shout about and of course the way back was terrible. The holiday itself was very expensive, the fact we had to pay so much for 3 children made it very expensive as the pay adult prices all in all I think that the way the complaints department have dealt with the matter has given me a renewed hope of their service as after the flight i said i would not travel with them again and would use another airline to fly to SriLanka on my future journies, but will give them another go and i hope we have a better experiance next time. I think my worry was it seemed to good to be true and too easy on the topic header as it wasnt the lenthy drawn out affair i expected it was going to be. Well done SriLanken !
  4. Thanks for the info, Ill sign it and get it sent off. Yes it was SriLankan i had nothing but hassle to start with took 6 hours for the purser to come and and see me and even then he didnt come back like he said he would after he spoke to the woman involved. I think we were treated disgustingly at the time and took a while to get hold of the right people to complain to but once i got to the right person and put the whole flight issues in a email along with pictures of my son they have dealt with it quite quickly. To be given the equivilant to £5k compo is amazing and never thought they would up their first offer which was very good itself. I have read on many places that the CS in flight has gone down hill since Emirates have sold all their share of SL. But the holiday was awesome
  5. Thanks Thialand for your reply , there was a few things wrong , not answering call buttons (even after 8 times) which isnt much of a deal and giving the younger children meals at the same time as us so ours go cold, the normal moany things really apart from my disabled 4 year old had coke spilt all over him and then after waiting 10 mins for the stewardess to sort something out for him i went to find her only to find her sitting in the gallary area applying makeup ( i went beserk lol) In all honesty i expected £100 or so to pay for the clothes to be cleaned but as always you never take the first offer and try for a bit more but to be offered 2 tickets was amazing but as i said not much good for a family of 5 lol , to i will give them a big hand after offering me 5 tickets. I thought it was pretty normal but a few bits confused me a bit where it says "firm basis" and "We accept that the said offer is made without prejudice and any admission of liability." which seems strange to offer something if they are not accepting liability .
  6. So I would like to see what you guys think and ask for anyone in the know if you could check the wording to ensure im signing something thats binding . Long story short is we had some trouble with a flight attendant on the way back from Sri Lanka, I got back and made some serious complaints to their head office and after around 10 days i got a email which made out the staff did all they could (which is rubbish) but they did offer 2 free flights(which amazed me) , but as a family of 5 we would struggle to use 2 tickets , So i emailed and put them straight on the facts and said that 2 tickets were of no use and i felt all should get tickets due to it effecting us all (I tried it on never expecting them to say yes) today i get a email saying after reviewing the complaint they would like to offer me the 5 tickets (then i picked myself up of the floor lol). The issue is its seemed TOOOOOOO easy , giving 5x£1000ish tickets away !!?? So have you guys/gals got any help on this RELEASE AND INDEMNITY letter i need to sign to get these tickets " We, the undersigned Mr. XXXXXX & Ms. XXXXX HEREBY declare that we accept from XXXXX XXXXX Limited Five Complimentary free tickets on economy class, firm basis to travel London/Colombo return in full, final and complete settlement of all claims of whatsoever nature rising out of or in connection with inconvenience experienced onboard flight XXX of XXth XX 2008. This offer is valid until XXth September 2009 AND in consideration of the said offer we HEREBY jointly and severally agree to indemnify XXXXXX XXXXX Limited, its servants and agents from and against all further claims by whomsoever made in respect of the afore mentioned subject of the said flight. We accept that the said offer is made without prejudice and any admission of liability." Any thoughts would be etremely appriciated Thanks:)
  7. The main thing is can they/are they allowed to enter anything on my CR ?? And can i get this search removed .. if a lender searches my record it looks bad that i have had this search
  8. Hi ... Thanks for that , i will contact them tomorrow .. I only rang as i wanted to find out why they had done it I have also read that its good to speak via the phone as anything you say cannot be used ...
  9. Would you mind if I asked you a few questions regarding a situation I find myself in ? I got an alert from Equifax saying i had got a "outstanding debt search" , I contacted the DCA that was on the alert asking why they had searched me and they said it was due to a outstanding balance from a Lloyds TSB bank account in from April 2002 , I do remember having this account before I moved to Halifax but was unaware it was in a negative balance. I said to them that the debt was Stature Barred to which he agreed but then he said that Lowell Portfolio (who bought the debt from Lloyds) would put a default notice on my CR .. I said havent Lloyds already done that to which he said doesnt matter Lowell now own the debt and they can do what they want , I did not admit i owed the debt but did say i will pay the debt in full if i do owe it but i want this search took from my CR , He said they cant do that to which i replied well i wont pay the debt then , He then said then they will just default me ... I then went on to say a debt can only been defaulted on once if no further agreement has been made , After some toing and froing he said he would speak to someone else that wont be in until Monday .. he'll ring me and let me know if this search can be removed . So here are the questions ... 1) I know a Stature barred debt in not enforceable but can a DCA enter things on your CR if the debt is Stature Barred ? 2) If they do enter something .. (IE.. This search which stays on there for 6 years and looks bad on my record or a default) then can I get it took off due to it being unfair as I knew nothing about the debt ! 3) What is my best way forward .. Even if I don't owe the debt I would much rather pay it and keep my record clean than have something bad on there ! 4) I have nothing on my CR from Lloyds so how would i do about finding out if their has been a default already entered by them ? Many thanks
  10. Hello all ... It seems like this company are a little naughty , I might be adding something else into the mix here or they may be in the right .. but I was under the impression this is not allowed .. Early April i received a letter from Lowell about a debt for Lloyds I am sure was paid off , if I didnt it was over 6 years ago anyway since I am very busy with sick parents at the minute I choose to ignore the letter thinking they will contact me again in a few months when things are hopefully easier. Then today I got a email from Equifax saying I'd had a alert which i checked only to find Mackenzie Hall had searched my credit file ... MACKENZIE HALL - KILMARNOCK (BAT , a Debt Collector company, has made an inquiry against your credit report on 12/05/2008 . If you were not aware of or did not consent to this search, contact MACKENZIE HALL - KILMARNOCK (BAT or Equifax for clarification. As I have had no correspondence from this company and never spoke to them are the allowed to search my file ??? I know im putting 2 and 2 together as for these debts but I can not think of any other debt it could be , Im ver annoyed with this as my record is clean and dont like DEBT COLLECTOR on my search records Many Thanks
  11. Well to start with the police did care , I bought a job lot and it was being sent to me , i had a buyer lined up who paid me through PayPal , I then PayPaled the fund to the seller , who didn't sent the items the buyer did a charge back which left me in the red , I won my claim from the seller but PayPal said there was no funds so I cannot get the money back !! I know I was stupid in this matter but this still isn't fair !!! It makes you laugh how they work if they can take the funds from my account which wasn't there and leave me in the red then why don't they just take the money from the seller and then try getting the money back from them instead of trying to rip me off !!! So much for PayPal protection !!
  12. Hi this is my first post but have been a lurker for a while , I have got a letter this morning (after about 40 phone calls and me saying please put anything you have to say in writing) from Intrum Justitia for a over due debt , to cut a long story short after being scammed our PayPal account is now in the red of over £2000 Can anyone please explain what "commenced formal debt recovery action" actually is (meaning what can they do) , I noticed that they are a member of the "CSA" (credit services association) who are they and what do they do ?? Is a PayPal debt enforceable ? or are they trying to force me into something I don't have to do , I have perfect credit record and don't want to put that at risk but don't see why i should have to pay this money when i don't (in my eyes) owe it !! what's the best way for me to go forward ? Do I just ignore them or do i write to them saying i refuse to pay and see what action they decide to take ? Will they take me to court ? Or do you think that they don't have a case under British law as they are just glorified con artists ? Any help will be gratefully appreciated
