  1. I applied to 1st credit With a CCA request for Lloyds loan. Had previously made arrangements and was making regular minimal payments. They even told hubby that they had bought the debt. However after sending CCA they wrote back saying they would apply to lloyds for the info then hoped we would make arrangements to repay this in full. That was over 45 days ago. Have heard nothing. Does this mean the end of the matter???
  2. I recently bought a cheap car for my daughter who has just passed her test. As it is the only car in the house at the moment, I have the car in my name as is the insurance. Obviously I do not want the bailiffs taking my daughters car - so should I put the car in her name even though I am the leading name on the insurance. Any advice? I cant hide it as it on my drive and no public road parking nearby. Forgot to add the car only cost £400 so resale wont put a dent in the £1600 council tax.
  3. I live in Essex and Newlyns are my appointed bailiff. We have dealt with them in previous years, and they have our contact info as in many cases they have had to refund me some money (makes a change). This year we are behind and it is due to be passed on to them. I was expecting this to be anytime soon and have downloaded a letter from this site to send to them regarding a payment plan. What I did not expect was constant phone calls. Had 2 for hubby on Friday (why they do not ask for me when he is not in I am not sure as it is in both names), and on Saturday morning at 8.45. Not sure why they are calling - could be to make an arrangement so they dont have to call or is it to say they did and then add charges as they have done in the past and I have had to call the council. Any advice. These are a rude company and I have very sympathy for anyone dealing with them!
  4. Hi, not sure if this is the right thread, but here goes. Have outstanding payments due with the council tax. We have had them before and paid up via the bailiffs, so they have had contact information. However, this has just recently gone to court through the council and received a letter stating that if not paid will be passed on to the bailiffs. I was expecting a visit or letter any day and will have to negotiate a payment plan, however what I wasn't expecting was a constant stream of phone calls. They called twice on Friday and then 8.45 on Saturday mornong. All they ask for is my husband, and he has not been around when they call. Are they allowed to do this or is this an attempt to make an arrangement prior to coming out and therefore not adding any further charges. I have had instances in the past where they have added costs for coming out and they haven't and I have had to argue with the council about this. Any advice?
  5. Decided to accept the offer from Crap1, as it was not too far outside of the amount being claimed. Let's see how long they take now.
  6. Thanks for that - worth a try. I thought credit cards were exempt from the OFT test case?
  7. Do Crap1 always pay up if you MCOL? Any cases been stayed? Had an offer through the FO of £862 on a claim of £950, however this has since increased to £1020. Crap1 been on the phone harrassing for signing acceptance fee - which we have not received yet! Telling us we are holding the whole thing up! Would this go in their favour if we decide to MCOL as they have made an offer and we have rejected? They have said that they will not repay the £12 charges since October? Any advice?
  8. We are in arrears with our council tax. The council have written and notified us they are going to court and that the whole amount will become payable. Can I still go online and pay the monthly figure I can afford,or would I have to deal with the bailiffs. Last year we had to deal with them and i am sure there was some pretty underhanded stuff going on. They tried to charge for visits, but nothing through the door. They told me they had visited and driven past and taken levy details on our vehicle. This I said was strange as they would not give me a number plate (I had no car at home during the day at the time), so probably a visiting friend! Also I read on here that bailiffs cannot charge for letters, however I am sure (I will have to check) that in the past we have had huge amounts of money added for their services . Is all this legal?
