  1. Hi, i sent a request letter to halifax for 2 a/cs and enclosed 2 chqs for £10 each. They sent i chq back to me and kept the other. Apparently you only need 1 chq for £10 for each bank not each a/c (Maximum fee is £10). Are they charging £5 per a/c? I was reading another thread earlier and they were charged £15 in total for 3 a/cs. very confusing! I have recieved statements for 1 a/c but not the other. 40 days run out on Sunday! Wonder if they will arrive tomorrow?!! Cathy
  2. Wow Lloyds has sent me my statements! I have added up the charges nd thet come to £1890! Thats a lot of monet in 5 years (i closed the account last year!). It scares me to thing how much they took in all the years before 2000. A couple of questions if i can. 1) I have three charges for an 'o/draft usage fee'. 1st on 10/09/2001 for £5.00, 2nd on 10/12/01 for £25 and 3rd on 09/01/02 for £25. These are the only charges of this type. I know thta i live in my overdrafe and have not included the charge for this in my list of charges, but can i claim these? don't really know what they mean! 2) When using the online calculator on this site for working out how much interest you can add, does it add 8% for the whole 6 years, because some of the charges were not 6 yrs ago? 3) I recieved a letter back from Halifax (i am requesting info from them as well) and the letter stated "With regard to your request for information relating to manual information on your account, HBOS plc is under no statutory obligation to record this information and therefore, I am unable to assist further with your request." Is this correct? 4) I am concerned that i may have trouble being accepted for new bank a/cs in the future if i claim the money back from the banks. Has anyone had any experience with this? Many thanks for your help, Cathy
  3. Hi, thanks for your response. Yes i did go into Lloyds and provide identity evidence as requested. The Manager claimed ignorance and tried to persuade me that i did not need to pay the £10 for the information i was requesting. I stood my ground and said that i did and refused the cheque back. I don't really know why he was trying to get me this, except maybe to check my knowledge, or delay my request, but he was a smarmy man so i stood my ground! Also as a nice bit of revenge my 2 year old weed on the floor!! and knowbody else noitced!!! I know it was bad, but i didn't feel like telling anyone! they took too much money from me, they can afford a new carpet! Toddlers are great! Cathy
  4. Many thanks. I will wait until the 40 days are up then send them letters!!
  5. Hi everyone! The 40 days are up on Sunday for my statements to arrive! I am requesting them from 1 a/c at Lloyds and 2 a/cs at Halifax. Halifax sent a letter saying that i only needed to pay the £10 once to them even though i requested the data for 2 a/cs. Is this correct? Also i have received the statements from 1 of the Halifax a/cs, but not the other one. I have received no statements from Lloyds. I want to write a letter reminding them, but what do i write in it? Any suggestions gratefully received! Many thanks, Cathy
  6. Hi, I sent the letter by recorded delivery on 6/6/06, with a cheque for £10 of the same date. Unfortunatle i was so stressed the i didn't date the letter! I'm hoping that the date of the postage will count. 40 days will take it to the 16th July. When do you think i should remind them?
  7. Hi, I feel very scared about doing this, yet i am so angry that money has become such an issue that the very thought of it panics me. I have 3 young daughters and don't have a paid job. My husband is self-employed so income is OK but not regular. Due to this we have incurred many many bank charges. This month they came to over £300. I need this money to live. AAAGGGHHH. I posted my letter requesting bank statements on 6/6/06! Lloyds have responded requesting further proof of identity as i closed the account last year. They have asked that my husband and i go in to branch in person with ID, i am a bit scared about what they will say to us, and how i will defend what we are doing! I have had no response from Halifax, I will give them tomorrow then i will send a chasing letter. If anyone has any advice about this, or what i should put in the letter Please let me know! Many thanks, Cathy
  8. Thank you so much! And well done to you! How do i start a thread? I have looked everywhere, but am having a blond day and cannot find out how! thanks, Cathy
