  3. It took about 4 weeks in all from my initial request.
  4. Ive just received my Halifax charges from the last six years. I should be leaping with joy at the prospect of claiming some funds back , however I can't make sense of the bloody sheets ! Basically I've recevied scrappy and confusing dot matrix print outs showing activity on my account of the past six years, however charges aren't clearly noted and it's virtually impossible to even identify them at all!! This Info was supplied free by Halifax but I'm now considering requesting my history of statements for a £10 charge. Has anyone else received similar info back from the Halifax in this style? Any advice??? :?
  5. I've racked up a lot of charges over the years for late payments on my HSBC credit card and was actually told this morning that due to me not paying my minimum payment yesterday I've incurred another £20.00 fine, joy! I'm in the early stages of gaining a schedule of charges for my current account for which I understand the penalties are recoverable. For my credit card however, are these charges recoverable too????? any feedback or success stories would be very reassuring!!!! thanks.
  6. Just phoned Halifax to chase a response on my charges history and quoting "under the data protection act....." and they've assured me a response on my request within 7days and that the matter is in hand!! Hooray one small step!!!! Although they haven't mentioned the £5 fee, I think this is because my wife had mentioned to them on the phone the other week that she wanted the history of charges on the account, they must have assumed she needed copies of statements, and from the letter I received this is what the £5 fee is for. I had actually written to them seperately requesting a schedule of charges and fees levied on the account and specifically stated that I was not requesting copies of statements. This may be a way to avoid the fee.The only bummer is - how do you check what your owed, and I don't fancy taking their word for it!!!! I'll let you know if they proceed to charge me for this service. Keep you posted
  7. I've just had a response from halifax asking me to refer to my own statements for a schedule of the charges levied over the last 6 years. I've seen on other threads mentioned that they have been cagey about the amount of info they had on the history of accounts ie one/six months history, how do you extract this information or do you have to have your own records anyway?? And did anyone manage to get upto 6 years worth??? They also mentioned £5 fee for statement copies! holteender_rob Basic Account Customer
  8. I did mention the DPA in my initial letter (see below), does this mean they're response is not lawful and they should have provided the info? "Dear Sir/Madam, We are requesting a schedule of the charges and fees that have been levied from our accounts, for the last 6 years (this includes any periods prior to any accounts becoming joint accounts too). We are entitled to this information under the Data Protection Act 1998. The schedule needs to include the date, reason, ie unpaid DD unpaid standing order, unauthorized overdraft etc, and amount of each charge. Notice: I asked for a schedule of charges and not copies of statements"
  9. Posted a leter on the 1st of Feb requesting a schedule of all charges levied against my account within the last 6 years and received a reply yesterday. It basically asked me to refer to my monthly statements for the information I had requested, and if I require any further statements there is a fee of £5.00 for the pleasure! I have read that they can only charge you a max of £10.00 for the info so I'm presuming that the £5.00 fee is for any amount of statements I would require rather thatn per statement!!! I'm firing back a letter today requesting my statements in exchange for the £5.00 fee. I'll keep you posted, let me know about the response you get!
