Hi I received notice today from a DCA of unpaid Utility bill of approx £600. I can only think these apply to a property i owned but rented out for 12 years. I sold it in 2004. Can anyone assist me in replying with the necessary letter.

Hi everyone, I have received a letter from a Debt Collection Agency relating to a debt incurred against HFC in 1998. The debt related to a personal loan which i believe i and my ex wife took out to purchase a car in 1998. In the same year i made a wrong choice and as a result went to prison My barrister that he would have all the debt written off. As a result no payment has ever been made since September 98, i have had no correspondance from HFC, yet today the DCA want £9000. Please help as this feels as if i have gone back 10 years. What rights do i have. What can i do in the first instance as the DCA are threatening all sorts against me. I dont have £9000 Any help will be gratefully received.
