  1. I have been given early retirement from my employer of 40 years because of ill health - I have received a small compensation payment which will cover my remaining mortgage. The mortgage is with RBS the outstanding balance is £49000 - if I pay it off completely do I receive some some sort of rebate from RBS or will I have to pay off the full amount?
  2. My daughter took out a loan with M&S some years ago - unfortunately she fell ill and couldn't make the payments. I didn't discover this until ECI took over responsibility for the collection. I made monthly payments of £50 to them until March 2009 - I think at that point the payments were not accepted and returned to my bank. Lowell Financial have now taken over this debt but they tell me that they can only trace payments up to August 2008 - I have sent them a copy of my bank statement showing the last payment to ECI but they say they need more information - I've written to my bank asking for anything they hold but where do I stand if they can't produce anything to satisfy Lowell?
  3. Thanks for the reply - we haven't been told anything - I was paying ECI up to this month (even though they no longer exist!)
  4. I have been repaying a M & S Loan taken out by my daughter some years ago. Monthly payments have been made to ECI for years - I now understand the Lowells have taken over the recovery of this debt. The letter received from Lowells shows the original debt balance. How do I get a statement of this account? ECI no longer exist - the comany who are now dealing with their accounts can't help me. I'm sure I have read somewhere that the new Agency (Lowell's) are required to prove to me that they have authority to recover this money - what form does this proof take?
  5. I hope I'm posting to the right group. First a bit of background - I took out a Trust Deed (only me - not my wife) I was advised by Wilson Andrews to open an acount with Think Banking (we had a joint account with RBS) - because I am paying Think Banking to administer my account I (wrongly) assumed that they would transfer all my DDs and standing orders to my new account (they didn't) By the time I'd realised and transferred the instructions manually I'd incurred bank charges. Wilson Andrews told me that these charges would be covered by the Trust Deed Eventually (after the charges had increased to over £1000) Wilson Andrews decided that my wife wasn't covered and she would be required to pay the charges. My wife has no income - I contacted Trident Credit Services and agreed that I would pay a (small) amount each month. I have today received a letter from Frederickson International asking me to start making payments. I have 'phoned Trident but they won't give me any information becaquse the account is in my wife's name. What do I do now?
  6. Thanks Dipply75 Sorry for the delay in replying -I have searched through the papers sent to me at the outset and they do mention outstanding equity. I was unaware that a valuation had been carried out - no-one came to the house. My concern is that my wife may be forced to sell her half of our home if I can't raise the money.
  7. Thanks for the reply Moonlighter. The Trustee has told me what the figure for the equity will be (just over £7800.) Unfortunately my wife doesn't work - I am disabled and claim DLA - my wife claims Carer's Allowance.
  8. I'm one year into my trust deed and have just received a letter telling me that I will need to make an additional payment because I have some equity in my house. The letter says that if I am unable to raise this money I may be required to sell my house. I jointly own the house with my wife (who doesn't have a trust deed) - can I be forced to sell my house if I can't raise this amount?
  9. Thanks lokinforinfo - I'll pass that on.
  10. Many thanks for the information Curlyben
  11. I am currently paying a loan to ECI which my daughter defaulted on some time ago. She has recently started receiving threatening 'phone calls from Lowell Financial regarding repayment of this debt. What do you suggest I do?
