  8. thanks so much - i claimed quickly against mbna and barclays and ended up claiming less than i should have (although it's great to get anything back off the banks!)...anyway, i just want to do this one properly...and then it's onto mint and rbs! have donated once already...but if i get this done correctly there will be another bigger donation coming soon
  9. ok feeling really stupid now...i'm trying to use Vampiress spreadsheet from google - throughout claim with contractual interest I've listed all the charges - paid referral fees and unarranged borrwoing fees and they total £646. The amount of interest for unarranged borrowing in 29.5% (natwest), the agreed borrowing interest rate is 16.5%. Not sure what to put in column F 'interest date' isn't that just the same as the charge date?? I've looked at lots of threads and can't seem to find the right answer...but i know that's because i'm not sure what i'm looking for! Would really appreciate any help anyone can give - i'm happy to go with just the 8% if that's easier???
  10. not sure if this is the best place to ask this, but barclays and mbna have both paid up without issuing a court claim - that now leaves me with natwest, egg and mint...plus i need to tackle barclaycard over the whole microfiche thing (but i'll follow the advice of others on here). For the other 3 banks i'm ready to issue a claim but will be out of the country for the whole of november - should i issue them now anyway, or wait until i get back? I don't want to process to screw up just because i'm not here to deal with letters etc. any thoughts? cheers

    BigCol vs MBNA

hi - MBNA have just refunded me £131..all i did was send the inital DPA letter and then the request for repayment of charges letter...they didn't even quibble so go for it!!
  12. Ok they paid up!!! Although i have to admit to them only owing me £131 not £271.. the list they sent me also included some payments previously returned, but it wasn't clear and I included them in my total (blonde moment!). Anyway, had a letter last week saying 'we do value your custom and so we would liek to resolve this matter. I have therefore credited your accoutn with a goodwill payment of £131 on the basis that this is in full and final settlement of your complaint.' It's not a fortune but as the ad says...every little helps )) thanks your all your help and encouragement...on to the next one now!
  13. Ok some help needed guys... got a very rapid response from natwest after I sent the first letter asking for a refund..this is what their letter says Thank you for your letter of 24 May 2006 and i apologise for any dissatifsfaction caused by the application of charges to your account. We believe that our charges are fair, reasonable and transparent. We consider that the amounts debited to your account have been applied strictly in accordance with your agreement with us and our published tariff, which we are satisfied, complies with all applicable laws and regulations. We are also committed to ensuring the transparency of the information that we give to our customers about the operation of our products. Consequently, against that background, we must differ with the views you have expressed. Having reviewed your account, I can find no instance where charges have been applied when they were not properly due. They have all been associated with a lack of covering funds in the account at the time items were presented for payment. Accordingly, the charges that have been applied to your account must stand. I am disappointed to note that you are contemplating legal action against the bank. Whilst I hope you will fell able to reconsider, should you decide to go ahead, please ensure that any Proceedings are served under our Registered Office address, which appears at the foot of this letter. I accept that this is unlikely to be the answer you might have hoped to receive but nonetheless thank you for taking the time and trouble to contact us yours sincerely Stuart Higley Customer Relations Any comments? Is the next step just to go ahead and issue them with a claim? all help much appreciated!
  14. DPA to be sent off tomorrow...think this is the last one now! on to helping friends and family do the same...
  15. ok sent off DPA request and got letter saying could only access info back to May 2004 'statements that are prior to this date are not held on a computer system or a structured relevant filing system and therefore, they do not fall under the DPA 1998. they can be obtained from our customer servies dept at a cost of £3 per statement' they did send me copy statements back to may 2004 and also a massive print out of stuff that i can't make any sense out of at all! have responded using the letter suggested in this forum to get the rest of the info...they have until june 9th...
  16. sent off DPA on behalf of my husband on 2nd may...waiting with baited breath!
  17. a list of charges received from MBNA yesterday - very clear, no faffing around with 6 years of statements and they returned my £10 fee £271 claim going in later today..will keep you posted
  18. had letter straight back from egg saying they were processing my request..no idea on charges as have only got last 12 months statements online. will let you know what they come back with...
  19. £450 in charges - sending claim in today
  20. ok statements received today...3 big envelopes full! and they returned my cheque saying the service i had requested was free of charge....that £10 has now been donated to this website to help hosting costs sorry it's not more...will see what happens after i start my claims!
  21. many thanks! just got in and found 3 large envelopes from barclays..plus my £10 cheque returned! about to grab a glass of wine and work out what they owe me
  22. original DPA sent to Egg through their secure mail system. they repsonded the next day by email and I had a form through the post the following day asking for further ID and the £10 fee. My original email had authorised them to take the money from my account, but I figured I'd send a cheque along with another letter stating my original request and that the clock was ticking... will keep you posted!
  23. thanks very much! will let you know what they say...
