  5. Hi guys, Just thought i'd post on here, the first post of this thread could do with being updated. I just opened up a Halifax Easycash account which comes with an electron debit card. It was really easy, after the 5 minute online application, they send a form out saying please sign this to proove you actually live here and send back a fax copy of your passport/driving license. No need to have utility bills, credit card statements etc like i found with Natwest as i live in rented accomodation and don't have any utilty bills in my name. Just thought i'd post my experience in case this helps anyone.
  6. Guys i have a question about my claim. While i am waiting for my prelim date to pass or a response i have been pondering. During the time that the charges were made to my account (and obvioulsy putting myself into further financial difficulties) i was unable to pay the minimum payments on my HSBC credit card, which resulted in a. charges against the account (a claim may go in for these after this one is settled) but more importantly b. i was defaulted on the credit card. Now i'm sure that i would be unsuccessfull if i tried to claim that the unfair charges on the credit card account caused me to defualt as they don't really add up to a lot, but i am in no doubt that the unfair charges on my bank account (the £810 i am claiming) caused me to fail payments on the credit card which led to the default. Is there anyway in which i could prove this to be linked and get the default removed? And is this too late now my prelim has been sent? The reason i am not sure about this is becuase although both HSBC am i not correct in thinking that they treat credit cards and bank accounts seperately and individually, and therefore proving the two to be linked may be difficult? Hope someone can help with this and that what i have just typed all makes sense!
  7. Wonderfull, thanks a lot. Prelim done, postbox first thing, i'm kinda excited about all this...
  8. Quick question, who is the best person to send my Prelim to? HO, my branch or this infamous Colin person in Leeds?
  9. Thanks for your quick reply Jo, i shall get that all typed up and sent off first thing tomorrow. I will keep you updated!
  10. Firstly a hello to all of you as i am hoping to get some advice from you guys over the next few weeks as i embarke on my task to take on HSBC. Firstly, where i'm at. I have literally come across this site today, and having read plenty of threads i reckon i am ready to go ahead and try and reclaim my charges. I have gone online and checked my statements for the last year (when i know my charges started) and all the charges (unpaid direct debits/standing orders, unpaid cheques, and over limit charges (card misuse charge) etc) add up to £810. I have used the spreadsheet found on here and also calculated my 8% interest (for when i file to court - £46.53). I am assuming now my first task is to send the Preliminary Approach letter to my branch (not needing to send the Subject Access Request letter as i have all my charges from online). Before i go ahead and send this letter, i just wanted to know from all you guys if there is anything else i should be doing, or need before i start proceedings. I think i am set to go, but thought i may as well check! Thanks for all your help in advance.
