  3. We are going to try and claim the early redemption charge back from GMCA. Our argument is based on the fact that these charges should only be levied on mortgages that are fixed whilst ours was a varied rate and hence should have been exempt from charges. Will let you know when we start and how it goes.
  4. I will also be keeping an eye on this one as we have a large number of charges from '98/'99 which we cwould love to claim back!!! Good luck!
  5. Hi All - I'm new to the Halifax thread and soooo frustrated. We were about to send off the prelim letter - we have kept all the relevant statements and worked out that they owe us in the region of £2500 from 2 years. Anyway my husband was taking a final look through the statements when he noticed two large payments to Llyods (presumably our own accounts) which we can not trace. So in the interest of finding that money we have opted to hold off for the moment as don't want to annoy them whilst they put a trace on the transfers! Still - it has given us a chance to look into a mortgage that we had a while ago. Of course if they can't find the money then the fun will really start!!!
  6. Hi - I am so pleased to have found this site. My husband and I have paid out so much in charges and od interest to the banks and are now in the process of calculating just how much. Two queries that we have is can we still make a claim if we have an outstanding loan with them and can they call in the loan? I would appreciate any advice - I have looked in the FAQ's and couldn't see anything relating to this so apologies if it is there. The loan is a consolidation of all our accounts and the following is a list of charges which have acrued to these accounts over the last 6years: £2700 (od interest) + £1300 in charges on my husbands account and from the joint account £2200 (od interest) and £360 in charges. We have calculated that the charges and od interest come to about 50% of the outstanding loan.
