  1. Thanks Dencha, I'll do that, & take it to my local Trading Standards office, & hopefully I will find out what I can do there & then.
  2. Been trying to find a template letter to send to westcot, but can't seem to find one. Could someone please send me a link to the one I need, thanks.

  7. Hi sea-sidelady Thanks for that, & congrats on your win. Does it mean I should still wait the customary 14 days, or do you think I should send letter 2 now:idea:.
  8. Should I still wait for the 14 days, or would you suggest I just sent the next letter now?
  9. Hi all, sent my Prelim letter to Halifax on 10 May 07 by Recorded delivery. I have got a reply this morning which is postmarked Belfast, & I sent it to Leeds, they say that they have investigated the matter of the charges - , & basically tell me that as far as they are concerned the charges were & are justified. So, now it seems as though I'm back to square 1. Has anyone got a reply, & had their claim investigated in just a few days. Not sure what to do now, need help please.
  10. It's not to help Westcot, it's to help me find out who did it, & maybe, possibly bring charges against them. As for Westcot, I want to get my name cleared so that I can get on with my life, & also close my Halifax account (see link) http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/welcome-our-forum/89101-me-n-halifax.html & move everything over to my building society account. Until then I just feel as though I am stuck in limbo.
  11. I'm also having problems with westcot, because of someone who lived at my old address about a year AFTER :mad:I moved out. Westcot sent me letter telling me that I owed over £140, for goods bought from Choice catalogue. Does anybody think I should send a letter to the catalogue, to request copies of all relevant paper work, as I assume there should be a credit agreement somewhere. All advice will be very welcome Thanks ja-de
  12. Thanks Deller, very much appreciated. ja-de
  13. Hi all, last year I received a letter from Westcot Credit Services, claiming that I owed £140.61 for goods ordered from a mail order catalogue. My initial reaction was complete puzzlement, as I didn't have a catalogue, neither was I a customer with anyone. I rang Westcot there & then, & that's when I found out that this happened in 1999. She also told me that the catalogue in question was Choice, I definitely knew that it was not mine as I had moved out of the address in 1998. I think it threw doubt in her mind when I gave her my DOB. So I had to prove who I was & that even though it was my name, it wasn't my debt. I had to send a photo-copy of my birth certificate, ask the local council to provide proof of when I moved out of the address in question, & finally I had to report the matter of stolen Identity & fraud to my local Police. I sent a letter, together with all the proof I had to Westcot, I also demanded that they clear my name. They replied by saying they will contact me when their investigation is completed. I sent a letter in late February of this year, requesting that they let me know whether they have cleared my name, & if they have found the person(s) who stole my identity. I'm still waiting for a reply. I feel as though I'm stuck in limbo. I have no idea what to do next. Can I claim compensation:?:? I desperately need to clear my name. Can anybody advise me. Please help.
  14. WESCOT for chasing me for a debt that's technically not mine (even if its in my name), & not replying to any of my letters. HALIFAX for causing much anxiety, by bouncing my DD's, taking my money, & not replying to my letters. (I know its not a DCA, but wanted to list them anyway). ja-de
  15. Halifax owe me £74 in charges for 2 DD's. 1 in April 2005, & the other in April of 2006. there was supposed to be 3 lots, (making it 2 in April 2006) but after I rang up & complained about not being informed about the ones for last year, (I only found out when I checked my account at the "hole in the wall" 4 weeks after the fact), & was spoken down to & was literally told I was stupid for letting my account get into arrears, I also sent a letter to their office in Leeds, they decided I could have 1 of them back, which was for £39. I might add that I was not informed at all that the DD's had bounced. They told me they had posted a message on my internet account, which was no good because I was offline for 3 months. They certainly didn't send me a letter by post like they should have done.
  16. Thanks mrsfoot, really appreciate the help. ja-de
  17. I know I've already posted a couple of times, but I thought it was about time I started my own thread. So, here goes. Anyway I have sent my Letter Before Action this morning by Recorded Delivery, so I'll see what happens in 14 days from now. ja-de
  18. Thanks for the advice Scott, never done anything like this before in my life. Just glad I found this website. regards Julie
  19. Thanks for your very quick reply CJ. These are the only 2 lots of charges I have had in 13 years of banking with them. yes I have sent them a letter, but the template I got only contains the first paragraph. But I'm going to send the complete one that you have shown me. I'll let you know how it progresses. Thanks again Ja-de
  20. Hi I'm ja-de & I've just joined. My problem is with Halifax & the charges they have taken form me. In April of 2005 I was charged £35 for being £7.94 short of my direct debit, then April of 2006 I was charged £39 for being just £1.99 short of my direct debit. To make matters even worse, the very next day my benefit was paid into my account. I would laugh about, it if I wasn't so upset. 2 months ago I sent them a letter asking for my money back, but not heard a thing yet. These people are quick to take your money from you, but when they owe you, you might as well not bother. But I am bothered, & now I'm hoping I can get it all back, I haven't worked for 3 years & won't be able to for a while yet, as I've just had 2 major ops, so all I have coming in is my Incapacity Benefit every 2 weeks.
  21. Hi everyone. In April 2005, I was charged £35 for not having enough money in my Halifax account, to pay for 1 direct debit of just £7.94. Then in April of last year, I was charged £39, for the sake of being just £1.99 short of my direct debit. I have already sent them a letter stating that I would like all the charges returned to me, including interest accrued, but unfortunately I have not heard anything from them, I sent the letter early March of this year. I'm not sure what to do now.
