  1. Hiya - can you tell me if you got a response at all? We've had 2 cars stolen from our drive and have been advised recovery charges are due - like you we have a high excess and aren't actually claiming for anything else. Its so frustrating to have to pay for beinga victim!!
  2. I don't really understand the implications or how that affects CL Finance - I get totaly lost in all the jargon
  3. Does anyone have experience specifically with CL Finance? They are now demanding 90% to settle and are reviewing my payments so I've got to complete a new budget form. They are adamant they never take less than 85% as a full and final settlement figure. I really want to be debt free - its so frustrating!
  4. Thats good advice - i'll give it a try - many thanks
  5. ok thanks - i hate having to play their games - I originally had debts of £45k and I've worked bloody hard at paying it all off but this last 3k has been awful - If I had it I'd pay the whole lot to be free of it but I only have upto £1,500 and as I say its really frustrating
  6. I've spoken to Howard Cohen and CL Finance - both are adamant that they will only accept 85% and not a penny less - will calling at the end of the month really make that much difference? They are also quotingthe debts as much greater than the amounts that Payplan have listed - they say in the past they have only given estimated amounts and to go forward I have to write and ask for confirmed amounts via payplan - can they do that?
  7. if I have a debt of £1200 whaqt would be a reasonable offer - I don't want to borrow more from my Dad than I have to
  8. that wouldn't be a fib lol thanks for the advice
  9. Does anyone know if I can offer a full and final settlement amount on a debt which has a ccj? thanks
  10. Thanks for the advice - I will make sure I keep photocopies of everything. My biggest frustration has not being able to get into my paypal account to find out what the problem is - I thought paypal opersted a no telephone customer service but have now found the number and will also call them. Thanks again for all you advice - I had begun to panic and you have helped me to relook at things more calmly. Vibrett
  11. We've received a letter from Robinson, Way for a debt of £95 on behalf of Paypal. The Paypal account is frozen and they haven't replied to our email asking them to explain the £95 debt (we have no knowledge of having used Paypal to pay for an amount of £95 and have not received any emails or messages in the past to tell us there has been a problem). When we call Robinson Way they won't discsuss the details and say we have to pay or write with our dispute but I get the impression they are trying to fob us off. They want a payment in the meantime but I'm worried this means we are accepting liability for a debt thats not ours. If I write to them what should I say - I'll send it registered post but they are threatening court action and I really don't want a CCJ. Any help advice would be really appreciated. Many thanks
  12. wow -lots to take in and thank you for all your responses against the odds I have got thru to payplan and I have now to send the claim to their legal department. They can not explain why the stopped paying this debt but can rectify it so I don't go to court - unfortunately it looks as if the charges stand but i will take the advice and find out if CL own the debt and if they say they own it will send a cca. Again thanks for all your advice - i can see how people lose the plot over debt - its been great having somewhere to turn.
  13. I have recieved a claim form
  14. Thanks Demon - I have started the new thread.
  15. Hi - I have a debt of £721.77 with CL Finance (this was previously a GE Capital Account) I have received a court claim form and additional charges of £140 When the debt was passed on to CL from GE it was £679.82 I had been paying monthly thorugh payplan an amount of £46 but when payplan were sorting out final settlements on my debts they did not contact CL and stopped the monthly payments so the last £46 was sent in October. I have received a couple of reminder letter from CL but passed them straight to paypal in the niave belief that as they had my money they would pay either the monthly amount or arrange a settlement. Neither happened. I have called Howard Cohen and Co to try to come to an arrangement to prevent the court action and offered a final settlement of £600. They have refused it and offered a settlement figure of £733. As I can not pay this they will now accept 3 payments of £287.25 but this includes the court and solicitors fees. Can anyone offer me some advice Many thanks
  16. Thanks guys - I spok eto CL but got put through to the solicitors on the pretence of being passed to my account handler! They will take a final settlement which is the full debt or the will take 3 installments if I am willing to pay the additional £140 charges - neither scenario helps me but I seem to have my hands tied. Payplan have been terrible - I sent them a lump sum to secure full and final settlement on my debts. They told me how much would cover it and I sent that amount (15k from an inheritance) - they paid of some then came back and said they needed £4k more - I didn't have it and in the meantime they had stopped paying the monthly installments which is what has resulted in this being referred to court - argh!
  17. I'm in a position to make a final settlement but if I write by the tim ethey get it and process it - it will have gone to court. The solicitor won't giv eme the number and are demanding the full amount plus £140 charges - not helpful when I'm already in debt. I really could do with speaking to them. how can a company not be contactable by phone - it beegars belief
  18. hi - i understand the advice to write a formal letter but i need to speak to CL Finance really urgently as their solicitor is hassling me and i now have a court claim form. I had been dealing with payplan but they have been as useful as a chocolate teapot and i now want to try and deal direct. Any tel no. would be really appreciated. Thanks
