  1. Oh, and I don't know if it was a full and final offer. I haven't had any in writing yet. I just called to get an update and they told me about it and that a letter was in the post. Also they said I had to reply within 14 days otherwise they would retract the offer.
  2. Hi Pete Thanks for the speedy response! I have an outstanding joint consolidation loan with HSBC which I am having difficulty paying for and so I thought that I would reclaim the charges under financial hardship to pay off my share of it. Apparently HSBC will only give you the money if you're finding it hard to put food on the table. I wrote them a standard letter, together with a list of charges + interest and my income and expenditure and they came back with £500. Thing is, I want to move back to England at some point but I can't because I'm too poor. The £200+ I'm paying towards the loan every month is bleeding my savings dry and having that £4900 would help so much. Thanks for any advice you can give on what I should do next!
  3. Hmm... wondering if anyone here can help. I put in a claim to HSBC for approx £4900 in bank charges and they've come back with an offer for £500. It's ridiculous because I've had to leave the country and move in wit relatives because I lost my job and couldn't afford the rent. I have 14 days to appeal that decision. Can someone help me please?
  4. How strange... I got the same email from them today too. Why would a chicken company be contacting me?
  5. Hi, sorry to jump onto this bandwagon here and I desperately hope that people are still tuned in to this thread! I am a UK citizen but with Australian PR and I've been in Australia for a couple of months. I was made redundant and left England with about £13000 of debt ranging over an overdraft with Lloyds, a Lloyds credit card, Egg credit card and Tesco Loan. I have not been chased yet by anyone but can someone please tell me what I should do if I get a call or letter from a DCA? As far as I'm aware, I had no CCJs when I left the country because I stopped my standing orders and direct debits just before I left. Thank you so so much! I have been suffering from sleepless nights wondering when I'll get caught up and what will happen to me when it does!
  6. Hello, I'm new to this site and I'm keen to see if anyone can offer some advice. I bank with HSBC and about 2 years ago I got myself into a financial pickle because I had to support my fiance for 6 months. Not his fault because he was contracting for some joke who was bleeding him dry. So the responsibilities to pay for all bills, council tax, etc. fell on my shoulders. HSBC took my Switch card away and now I'm desperate to get it back. I am in better control of my finances now but of course if you were to walk into a branch, they have to do exactly what the computer says and I'm guessing I'm still a while away yet from perfecting my credit score! I'm thinking of writing to the Head of Consumer Banking at HSBC but I don't have his/ her name. Any suggestions?
