  3. That's great, i'll get right on it for them when i get home from work this evening. They'll be a lot happier with a definitive course of action.
  4. I'm trying to sort something out for a friend. They recently received a phone call from a company calling themselves Ultimate Credit Management asking to call them back asap - which they did. "When speaking to their representative (who was incredibly rude, obnoxious and just an all round tosser) they were advised that the account had been passed to them by Activ Kapital re. a debt from around 4 years ago. They've never written to my friend before now (my friend didn't give the original creditor an up to date address however collection agencies use trace methods to track people as far as i know?) never phoned them before now but are now expecting my friend to pay either £675 at £45 per week or £510 as a settlement figure. My Friend doesn't dispute the original debt but wants to obtain more information about it. Are we able to request proof of the original debt, what (if any) charges the DCA's have applied to the debt etc. I'm pretty green around the edges when it comes to debt therefore it may seem like i'm asking stupid questions - any help i could get would be gratefully received.
  5. I've done a search and no-one has posted an address on here - certainly very few people appear to be taking action against them. I've also thrown out my cc statements so don't have it there. Their website is absolutely useless.
  6. Does anyone have the address to write to for a DPA request for these cats?? I had a mortgage - and credit card with them 3 years ago but threw any statements i had out of theirs last year!! I do remember a fair few £20 late payment charges racking up though due to their inability to process a BACS payment within 7 days!!
  7. I filed my moneyclaim around the 21/5, got a letter back the day after saying they were willing to settle around £630 of the original £730 charges which i of course ignored. Got an acknowledgement of my claim dated 31/5 and then a letter saying they they were confident charges would stand blah blah blah but mindful of legal costs would refund me in full (including interest and legal costs!) Result!!
  8. 12th may sent Prelim letter requesting charges of £302.50 refunded. Got home this morning after a couple of days away to find letter dated 15th may, no admission of liability whatsoever blah blah, legal costs blah blah, sign our declaration and get your costs paid back to you. Bingo!! - much more effecient than their parent bank who i'm still waiting to hear from after 4 weeks! 14 days after LBA runs out today so i'll be busy looking at the next stage for the next couple of hours.
  9. Having sent my Prelim and LBA letters out i've stil not heard a thing from HSBC - is this a usual tactic of theirs as a lot of threads on here indicate they at least receive a standard 'we're not interested' letter. I know both letters have been delivered and signed for having checked the royal mail website.

    Help!

I sent both my initial refund request and my letter before action to Allan Petty.......seemed as good a choice as any.
  11. A quick update regarding my case. After hearing not a sausage from the HSBC i sent my LBA out yesterday, in the 14 days they've now got i'm gonna familiarise myself with exactly what i need to do next then i'll be ready for when they (invariably) ignore me again.
  12. First of all hi to everyone on here. I came across this site (as i'm sure many people did) though MSE and after calculating bank charges since i joined the HSBC in Sept 02 i've written to them requesting refund of £734.50. I posted this by recorded delivery on Fri 21st by recorded delivery to Allan Petty so it's time to play the waiting game now. I've also written to Lloyds TSB requesting statements dating back to Jan 99 (playing dumb regarding the 6 year rule - if they pay up everything for that timescale i'll try again going for everything dating back to June 93 when i started banking with them) and First Direct. I also understand (though i've not yet looked into it in more detail) that i can apply the same principle to credit card charges. If this is the case i could be writing a few more letters out before i'm finished!! Andy
