CL Finance & Howard Cohen Claim received today
billybig replied to billybig's topic in Financial Legal Issues
I have never even heard of CL Finance until today. I made an agreement with GE approx 8 months ago and since then have made the agreed payment every month. -
I have received a Notice of Assignment effective 18/03/09 from Howard Cohen Solicitors advising that CL Finance been assigned my store card account from GE Capital. I a seperate letter I have received a claim from lodged at Northampton Court by CL Finance claiming the full outstanding amount. I have for the last 8 months been making payments to GE Capital at half the amount due and have advised them that I am unable to make the full requested payment. They agreed this and my payments have continued. What does this claim form imply and why has it been issued immediatly without any previous contact from CL Finance. I am terrified now that the courts are involved. Would I be able to make an agreement with the solicitors as I am in no position to clear the full amount.

CARS threatening home visit without CCA
billybig replied to billybig's topic in Debt Collection Agencies
Thanks very much. I will get a copy of that letter out to them tomorrow. -
I wonder if anyone can help me. I was contacted by CARS (Creditlink Account Recovery Solutions Ltd) regarding an outstanding amount of £120 regarding a mobile phone contract which I have no recollection of subscribing to. I wrote to them to request a copy of the CCA, this was sent by recorded delivery and shows as signed for on 02/06. By my reckoning the 12 working days will expire on 18/06. However, I have today received a letter from them dated 05/06 advising me that a home agent will be visiting me on Thursday between 08:00-20:00. How should I respond? I certainly don't want anyone visiting my house and as yet haven't received the CCA. Any advice much appreciated.

Is there a Telephone Harassment Letter template on here? -
Am I able to claim back unauthorised overdraft interest?

Hopefully then I will receive the request information soon then. I just found it odd that they didn't take the payment that they are entitled to.

Hello All, I have recently joined the forum and have found many extremely helpful topics whilst having a look around. I have recently decided to approach my bank, First Direct to reclaim charges I have paid over the last few years. As I don't have all my statements I sent them the recommended DPA letter requesting all information held about my account advising that copies of statements would be acceptable, but also requesting they include details of any notes which have either caused or resulted in that manual intervention or other evidence of that manual intervention has taken place. I also asked that they confirm in writing if no manual intervention has taken place. I included with my letter a cheque for £10 to pay the DPA fees and sent it to them by recorded delivery. Some five days later I received a letter from First Direct advising me that all the charges information I requested are contained within the statements and that they would arrange to send these to me. They also advised that information regarding manual intervention is included in my notes and they will provide copies of these. The thing that surprised me was that they have returned my cheque advising that they are not going to charge me for my request. Does this mean that if they don't charge me they can take longer than 40 days to respond to me? Why wouldn't they charge me when they are entitled to do so? Sorry for such a long post!
