  1. Just a quick update, I have spoken to the CAB who advised my contract is not with the letting agency and not to let them in without the landlord there.
  2. Good afternoon all, Myself and my partner are moving out on the 5th of December. Originally our contract was and still is our landlord. He has now decided that a 3rd party letting company should do handle booking us out and arranging our deposit. This is where my worry is. As I am aware our contract is with our LL and not with anyone else, are they are to just hire a 3rd party company to take over the propery and we have to deal with them? Our deposit, the letting agency are now becoming very frustating to deal with. I would like our deposit to be given to us via check or cash on the day we move out. They are saying the landlord has to check over the property and this may be up to a week after we move out. After this time we don't have time control over whats happens to the property and I don't like the idea something outwith our control might happen and our deposit is held. BTW I am in Scotland and I know the rule are a little different here. If someone could answer the following questions I would be grateful. As our contract is with the landlord as we entitled to only deal with him and not a 3rd party company. are we entitled to have the deposit when we move out on the basis the landlord has checked everything.
  3. Hello all, I recently bought a Dell/Alienware m11x. It was ordered on the 28/04/2010 and I received the laptop on the 13/04/2010. I had the screen replaced last Tuesday and now i have discovered more issues. When the engineer was out he managed to damage the screw hole at the base which now requires all of the chassis to be replaced. The screen is still having the same original fault and the system speaker is now damaged. I spoke with Dell for a good 30 minutes and I asked for a replacement system due to the age of the system and the fact 4 parts have/will been replaced on the system. To replace the parts the whole system will need to be dismantled which I don't think is right for such a young system. Dell finally wore me down and I just wanted my system to be repaired so I agreed to a service call for tomorrow (22/06/2010) however even having next business day warranty there are now no parts for the laptop so it will be repaired next week! needless to say I am even more unhappy and would still like a replacement. I have just sent off an email requesting one using the sales of goods act. is there anything that Dell could come back with? I understand they have to have a chance to repair the system but they already did that the first time and have since broken the system even more and the original fault is now not working.
  4. I just ignored the letter, and they have sent me another one! this time it looks a lot badder! lol. Still they are getting my name wrong! Mr Ames? They are now threathening to add legal expenses lol. What else will happen? I certingly can't afford to pay the full amount although i still want to clear this off as fast as possible. I don't feel like calling them just now to get nagged in to trying to pay for more than I can afford.
  5. Well that's calming! I'll expect a letter every day then!! I take it nothing can be done with the wrong name? I'm surprised they are chasing me for money and can't even spell my name correctly.
  6. Wonder if you can help! For the past 3 days I have recieved letters from Wescot Credit Services regarding a RBS credit card. Now I have recieved a letter threathening to take me to court or a debt collector to come to the door unless I pay by a certain date. Now I think it's one of the standard letters but it does look very convincing. Now the strange thing is! within these last three letters not once has my name been spelled correctly they have managed to mi-spell James!! Would this have any impact on the debt that they have been passed over? I understand a CCA request would be the first option
  7. Well yea its just like a normal bank loan expect you had a year break to finish studying what the loan paid for. As I understand its just a typical loan with a few differences Professional and Career Development Loans: what are they? : Directgov - Education and learning
  8. This would have been the co-operative themselves advising I had missed some payments and issued a default notice, it was shortly after this I moved.
  9. Thanks for the quick reply, The last time would have been before I moved a good 2 years ago now:S I haven't checked my credit rating for about the same amount of time, head in the sand! I think that may be worth a shot, would atleast tell me where I stand.
  10. Hello all! over the past few years I got myself in a bit of a mess with debt and really was too young to understand the consequences! I also understand things are done a little differently in scotland hence why i've posted it here. I started off getting a career development loan with the co-operative bank must be a good 3 years ago and it was the worst decision i've made! I was completelty mis sold it by a training company and the interest on the loan was huge! The total amount was £5000 but to be honest they made the interest up on it! if I can remember it was around 15% I had left my job and became unable to find a new one so I had to stop paying most of my bills just to survive. I have since moved house but was really too scared to ever contact them (daft i know!) Now I am in a good position and currently plan to have everything paid off by 6months, well apart from this loan! Is there anything that could have happened in those 3 years? I can imagine I have defaulted. I really want to begin to get everything sorted and move forward. What would the best steps be?
  11. I was in the same situation and followed paypal's rules to the letter and still they got the debt collectors on to me! I found it didn't make any difference whether the item was sent special delivery with signature! Paypal still refused! Would never use them again!
  12. Hello All, I have got a Capital one credit card which has now been passed over to some company called Debit House. One of the guys I spoke with advised they are part of Capital one but i cannot find any information about them. The overall debt I owe is £512 they are pressuring me to pay the full amount within 4months, they have also advised they are holding the charges and interests just now, but my suspicion is they have bought the debt off Capital One. I have now created a payment plan of 30quid but it took some doing as they were hounding me for more a month! Going back to when I first got the card I am sure I didn't sign any credit agreement I am know going to ask for a copy this of. What grounds do I have if they don't have it? Also can they force me to pay anymore?
  13. Hello All, I did have a career development loan with the Co-operative bank until today when I received a letter demanding full payment of the loan (£5k). They are requesting payment within 14 days and if I don't then they are going to pass me to credit reference agencies and recorded as a defaulting debtor. Now they closed their phone line at 7pm so I can't discuss it with them! I have missed a couple of payments, still trying to get on my feet and get everything in order but I'm a little worried as they have terminated the account. Has anyone had experience with this loan? and what would be the worst that could happen? any help would be gratefully appreciated.
