  1. Hi all, my mechanic has just opened up the engine and told me that i need a new engine, he said all the components, pistons, camshaft etc are badly damaged. Obviously now i cant ask for a refund frommthe dealer because my mechanic has torn the engine apart. I will have to claim for the price of a new engine and labour and other compensation, where can i get a copy of the SOG letter that i need to send to him
  2. what else can i claim for, as at the moment I have no car to go to work and i cannot afford to rent a car as all my money will go towards repairing the engine. This has inconvienienced me badly Is it a good idea to contact the last registered keeper, probably the last registered keeper told them the car had a fault (not sure)
  3. Thanks that is great, a solicitor recommended by Honest Johns website said, I am covered aswell but this is quote: To draft proceedings in a case like this we would charge £250 + Vat. We can also do the court hearing for a further £250 + Vat. You should claim the higher figure of £3700 quoted by Toyota. Our fee would cover ; Receiving from you a detailed summary with all accompanying documents including written quote from toyota. Peparing proceedings and writing to dealer making an offer to settle. Sending proceedings to you with advice on how to issue them proceedings but when i asked if the charges can be recovered he said no, but i have dedcided to do it myself
  4. An established car dealer that sells over 60 cars in a showroom ranging from £1000 to £15000
  5. I am not a trader, The car is a W (2000) reg Toyota MR2 with a milleage of 88k. The engine is faulty, I started to hear some rattling in the engine after 2 weeks, i was told by Toyota that at a point in time, the car was run on low or no engine oil (definitely not by me), so that had messed up the engine, although Toyota did not open the engine up, they said judging by the sound of the rattle and their diagnostics, they need to replace the pistons and other stuff related to the engine. I paid the full asking price of 3995, the dealer could not give me a discount because he said it was a part exchange car and he wasnt making anything off it
  6. Obviously Toyota Charges are off the roof, I will try and contact the previous RK as suggested, Basically they need to repair the engine or fit a new one. The dealer called me this morning and explained that it was a TRADE sale which meant noting could be guaranteed, and that if it was a Retail sale then he would have guaranteed it.
  7. I purchased a car from a dealer, which he said was a part exchange car, he said the car was in good condition but because it was a part exchange car they couldn't give me a waranty. I signed a disclamer to this effect. 2 weeks later i realised the car had an engine problem, I took it to my Local car Dealer garage and was quoted a minimum of £3700 to repair the engine, i bought the car for £4000.. I believe the dealer knew about the fault but he still went ahead to sell it to me, i phoned him he said well it is sold as seen or a Trade sale and they cant do anything about it. now i am left with no car, it is going to be 4 weeks this weekend, any advice will help
  8. Thanks I have sorted most of it out myself, The problem is my refund, at the moment it looks like i am better off getting a new quote from Norwich union on your website which is less than £50 a month, or another insurance company which is even cheaper and fight for some refund on the other policy, but that will be as a last resort if nothing is sorted.
  9. HI Becca, I sent you an email regarding my Car insurance but I haven't heard anything from you. Ianyway i have had a bad experience with norwich union direct. I was being hit by a third party, I decided not make a claim at that point as the third party was also trying to claim from me. The claim was not resolved for a very long time, so i lost my no claims bonus even though they was no payment made to the third party. My premium went up from about 700 to over 1400. I had no letter to say what the outcome of the claim is, I decided to run after them, recently i was told the case has been closed because they did not get any response from either of us for over 12 months. I was told by the Personal injurt team that i should get my No claims bonus back and all i have to do is call customer service and tell them. I was on the phone for over 2 hours being transfered from one department to another going round in circles, 1 cust rep told me that the case was settled as 50-50, which is a lie and that they had already paid the claimant which i means i cant get my no claims bonus back. I called the personal injury team again and they said that its not a 50-50 claim, that i should get my no claims back. I called cust services again and told them what i was told by the personal injury team. Unbelievably the customer services guy in india asked me to give him the number for the personal injury team because he did not have it. he now phoned them to confirm and he finally reinstated my no claims bonus. i dont know why all norwich union departments are not using the same system or sharing the same data. The most annoying part is this, i should get some refund back due to my no claims bonus being reinstated. my last premium during the accident with 3yrs no claims was about 750 which was 69 a month the following year with i yr no claims went up to over 1400 which is about 140 a month Now that i have my no claims bonus back which is now 4 years, my account was readjusted to be £90 a month, I have paid 140 for about 7 months now, which means i have over paid my premium but you guys still want to collect £90 a month extra from me The worse thing is that a quote on your website gives me less than £50 a month. I trried to explain this to the Customer service guy in India but they dont understand
  10. They set up a new loan for me with the same interest rate as before, so i did not loose out in the end, my first payment was even extended to next month.
  11. I just cancelled mine on saturday, but It was within the 30 days period, They had to set up a new loan for but with the same interest rate, so i didnt loose out. They have a bad reputation, Go and get your money from them. they dont have to set up a new loan for you, they are rogues
  12. How long have you had the loan for
  13. I sent them a fax this morning, I have been told to come into the branch because they have to give me a fresh loan Is this allowed and what should i watch out for?
  14. I took out a loan of 9k about 2 and a half weeks ago. I was told that they couldnt give me the loan unless i took out the PPI. i was desperate for the money so I had to take it. now I am thinking of cancelling it, because on the terms of condition, it says i can cancel it within 30 days at no charge. The reason i want to cancel it is because i am clearing the whole loan next month when i get my new mortgage, so i dont need it. will they want to recalculate the loan with a higher interest?
  15. Hi thank you, oh sorry its Voluntary Termination ( I can hand the car back to them if i have paid up to half of the value) The finance company that gave me the loan over the phone told me that I need to have a PPI before i could be giving a loan
  16. Hello Everyone, i need some advice, i got an HP for a car in December 2004 for 4 year firstly I think i was wrongly advised about the PPI, the guy said i needed one to get the loan or else he couldn't give me one. (not very sure) Anyway I have decidded to do a VT. amount of credit = 5799 finance charges = 2899.56 arrangement fee = 250 credit facility = 185 purchase fee = 10 Total amount pyable = 9343.56 monthly payment = 181.22 for 48 months VT Figure is 4671.78 now for the PPI PPI (cash price) = 1377.26 total charge for credit = 688.66 Total amount payable = 2065.92 monthly payment = 43.04 for 48 months Total monthly payment is 224.26 which is the PPI and car monthly payment. My question is I know i have paid more than half now, Am i liable to pay the rest of the PPI if I do the VT or will i get some rebate I bought the car from CarGiant and because i used an outside finance company, they gave me no advice, they just told me to sign the faxed agreement.
