  3. After sending the initial letter, HSBC have wrote back and offered £565.00 of the claimed £617.00 in full and final settlement. I think I should take it....should I?
  4. HSBC have taken £667.00 in the last three years as "administrative charges". I have sent the preliminary letter (Wednesday) with a slight-modification "I work at a legal office that has succeeded in virtually identical claims for unreasonable charges, and that also has no hesitation in pursuing a similar claim against you." Not sure whether this will make any difference or not, but it's worth a try.Maybe they might take me more seriously if they know that claiming would not cause any costs or too much extra effort from myself. Anyway, I received an e-mail yesterday saying that they were delaing with my letter and would let me hear from them - that seems a bit too courteous for HSBC! Wish me luck. Emmalou
  5. New member of this website. I'm with HSBC and have a debit card with them. They charge me £25.00 for every overdrawal I make, be it £10 or £50, which they explain are "administrative costs", i.e. sending an automated letter. Interestingly, they will not let me have an agreed overdraft that excludes such charges as my credit rating is to low. Surely if my credit rating is too low then I shouldn't be allowed overdrawals at all. Would these charges be deemed unreasonable?
