  1. Thank you for your help. I was hoping that that was the case! Just hope my credit rating zooms up when the defaults have eventually gone!
  2. Hi, Yesterday I viewed a copy of my credit report from Experian and Equifax. I have two defaults on file and both of these are satisfied. I know that a default drops off your file after 6 years, but is this 6 years from the default date, or 6 years from the satisfied date? I really hope it is the default date! Also what do they mean by 'File updated for the period to...? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Here is what is written in the report: NUMBER 1: Company name:HILLESDEN SECURITIES LIMITED Started:05/08/2003Default Balance:£921Current Balance:SatisfiedDefaulted On:28/02/2005File Updated for the Period to:18/09/2005 NUMBER 2: Company name:CAPITAL ONE Special Instruction Indicator:Partial SettlementSpecial Instruction Start Date:01/06/2006Started:08/02/2005Default Balance:£525Current Balance:SatisfiedDefaulted On:02/01/2006File Updated for the Period to:16/03/2008
  3. Hi! I wonder if anyone can help. On Sunday (22nd March) I purchased a bedframe from Furniture World at a sale price of £799. The assisitant told me that the price was going to increase the next day, and that this was the last day at that particular price. However, having looked at their website tonight I have discovered that the actual price has reduced even further to £699!! I feel very misled by the sales assistant and was wondering what rights I have to get the frame at the price of £699, even though I have paid a deposit!? Thank you in anticipation!
  4. Thanks for your replies. I actually sent Egg a message yesterday via the secure messaging service asking why they sent me another card, when I couldnt, quite clearly activate it. I also asked why my balance was reducing yet the minimum amount I was paying was increasing! They responded very quickly today. This is what they said... The card may have been sent out automatically if it was due to expire or if you requested one, although you are unable to use the card you may require a copy of the card and/or its details for your own records, therefore we still issue the cards on terminated accounts. There's never a good time to tell customers that we're increasing their payments but the minimum payment calculation was changed to ensure that your monthly minimum payment would always cover at least that month's interest in accordance with Banking Code condition 10.13. This change was communicated to all Egg Card customers in October 2008. Any increase in your minimum payment will mean that your balance is reduced faster. By clearing more of your outstanding balance, your subsequent minimum payments will slowly reduce. Please copy and paste the link below into your web browser and go to section 2 to view the new definition of the minimum payment. new.egg.com/visitor/0,,3_1087--View_1068,00.html Egg Banking plc is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority and subscribes to the Banking Code, copies of the code are available on request. For further information or to view the Banking Code visit BBA – British Bankers' Association - Home Interest is still being charged on your card because the terms and conditions of the account haven't changed only that we are no longer offering the credit facility to you. Borrowed funds will continue to accrue interest at your standard rate until the balance is paid in full, at which point the card will automatically close. If there's anything further I can help you with please don't hesitate to contact me. Regards Debra KempInternet Customer Services What do you think about this!!? I have printed it off for my records!
  5. Yes, it was the same letter as was posted on another thread. I am very interested to see how this Egg situation develops!
  6. Thanks for your advice. I have to tell you that I e-mailed Egg to ask about why I couldnt activate my new card that they sent and the reply was... 'Your unable to activate your card as your agreement has been terminated. We sent you a letter dated 29 January 2008 informing that your agreement was being terminated and that your account would become a repayment only facility from 6 March 2008. For this reason you unable to activate your card as you can't use it. Thanks for your message. Regards ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Internet Customer Services it does make me wonder why, if it has changed to a repayment only facility I am being charged over £80 a month interest!
  7. So what shall I do now? I have been reading the Egg forums with great interest! Do I have a contract with Egg still or not?!
  8. Hi, I wonder if this has happened to others? I was one of those people who had their egg card terminated in January 2008. I have been repaying the balance off - but have noticed that although the balance has decreased, the minimium monthly payments have increased? Also, a few weeks ago a brand new Egg card arrived through the post... I initially thought that Egg must have had a change of heart, but to no avail. I was unable to activate it due to the 'termination of my account'. Why send new cards out to people, when they cannot use them? Plus on my credit report it states that my Egg account is active? I'm confused!
  9. Hello! I wonder if anyone could help me. I have a Marbles credit card, and in 2004 (after going through a tricky separation), I ran into financial difficulties and ended up missing two months of payments. These late payments resulted in me getting heavily charged with late fees, which then in turn pushed me over my credit limit. Marbles placed a default on my account in March 2004, and this has made it impossible to get credit or a mortgage ever since. I brought my account quickly back into line under the credit limit and set up a direct debit so that no future payments would be missed. Since March 2004 I have been paying the minimum monthly payment. When I looked at my credit report recently my account comes up as being defaulted, but Marbles (or HFC) haven’t updated the fact that I have never missed a payment since the default. Did my account have to be taken to £0 before the default can have 6 years to clear, or will, in March 2010, it be erased from my records seeing as though I am still paying into clearing the account? I’m very confused, as had I know that the account needed to be paid off I would have cleared it years ago and marbles have never stipulated that this was the case. Furthermore, I cannot even recall getting a default notice in the first place. Thank you in anticipation for your much needed advice...
