  1. Just to update you that I got a reply from my last letter today. Informing me that all charges have been refunded. I have just checked my online banking and the money is there! Thanks for the reply yourbank! I am tempted to take it further however at the moment I am just glad the money has been refunded. It taken over 15 phonecalls & 3 letters, Nationwide are my next target althought my claim with them is on hold until the current appeal has been sorted! Thanks Again Max
  2. Thanks, I have just written another letter. I will update here when I finally here back from them! Max
  3. This is really complicated and I have come to the end of my tether with writing letters and phoning A&L. I recieved a letter in april informing me that because I do not use the account and fund it with the correct money each month, they were going to start charging me £5.00 a month. To avoid the charge they said I could change the account to a bog standard one with no benefits. I did this on 1st May and was assured by the woman on the other end of the phone I would not be charged for anything. So then on 12th may A&L charged me the under funding fee of £5.00 for the period of march-april. This took me 74p overdrawn and since this, they have charged me £5.00 a day in unauthorised overdraft fees (charges are now up to about £250) I have written a letter of complaint but I have been have informed that they believe it is to do with the ongoing issue with the banks/courts at the moment. I replied and told them i believe it is an administrative error due to the fact I was given incorrect information from staff. I havent had any response to this letter yet. (this was nearly 3 weeks ago) Someone tells me that all telephone conversations are recorded with them so this is in my favour. But where do I stand with them? what are my next steps? They advised me to pay in the money to stop any more charges but I am hesitant to do this and don't see why I should have too becuase its there error! They have made no effort to resolve the situation other then send me a standard letter re the current court case situation. They insist that they are perfectly in their right and as long as they replied in the first 7 days of my complaint there is no time scale for them to settle the complaint. I have checked my credit file and they have already marked that I am two payments late. How is any of this acceptable customer service and in anyway lawful? Its now july and this has been on going since May. I am really not sure what to do.. :-S I was also informed on my visit to the branch they could freeze my account or something like 'pending closure' I tried to do this on the phone and was informed that this is not possible, so once again I have been given incorrect information. Today they even cut the phone off twice while I was trying to get an answer from the customer service team. I cannot describe how angry I am now, I have phoned, visited my branch, written letters and am no closer to getting the situation resolved. Has anyone else had a similar situation? All your advice is much appreciated. Thanks Max
  4. Thanks very much, I am now all ready to post my Prelim, fingers crossed I will be able to add to the many successful claims on here.
  5. Have been meaning to send off my claim for too long now, but one things confuses me and that is the interest you claim? Firstly do you have to claim the interest, I mean I don't have to claim anything but how does it work? the 8% for each charge from the date of charge? Or can I jus claim for the charges added to me account only, without contractual interest?
  6. Rights guys & girls, update.... Didn't hear back from nationwide & they cashed the cheque about a week after my first letter was sent on the 5th March. (cheeky buggars) so when the 40days was up, I sent one demanding details of charges, so and behold, two days later the postman rings at the door and they had arrived, Ihad to sign for them. I am now trying to work out what interest to claim? On the list of charges they sent me, it details a monthly interest charge, do we claim this back? or do i work out 8% of the total amount of charges only? Do you have to claim interest, or can you just go straight in for charges? I am a bit confused! Your help is much appreciated.
  7. Have at last had my clio fixed by Renault since my first post about it in early march! It was originally booked in mid march and when the report came back there was apprently 'nothing wrong with you car sir'. So off I go (feeling like a fool for wasting there time) and guess what? it still stalling and now driving itself around as the rev counter was up so high! So the lady says bring it straight back in when it plays up again, so I take it straight back to them, only to be told id now have to wait another week as they are ver busy, surprise surprise! Moving on, eventually get a call after two days of having my car, the engine coolant temperature sensor was broken and a couple of other things to, what I dont get is why they never found this out first time round? They were also unable to supply me with a courtesy car (three month waiting list), however when dropping my car off there were atleast 6 courtesy cars (clearly marked) sitting in the car park. Turns out a happy ending, as all was covered by the cars warrenty and I didn't have to pay a penny!! I am still not to happy with the service from renault though. Sorry to have a rant, just have to let it all out somewhere!!
  8. I to sent my SAR to Nationwide begining of march, they cashed the £10 cheque about a week later but i have not heard anything since & have not recieved any statements or details of charges! 40days is due soon and i want to be ready for the next stage, what do i do now??
  9. Thanks Lori My only problem is being inpatient, but it will hopefully pay off and then pay for a nice summer holiday for me! This site has inspired me and if i am successful i will start on the credit cards!
  10. They are a joke! I took out finance on a laptop back in 2004 with PC World via HFC Bank, all my payments are up to date as of today but they are now chasing me for late payments charges of £75.00. I have refused to pay this, am i within my rights to do this? (By chasing me i mean 8-10 calls a day, everday including weekends, the latest call was at 9pm). HFC bank are aware that i am currently un employed and have financial diffculties & they have refunded one charge of £15. Shall I persue for the rest? I have also asked them to jusitfy the charges, I am yet to recieve an answer! I pay 48.40 a month and i will admit there have been a few ocaisons when i haven't be on time with making payments, I have also told them i cannot afford to make payments higher than they already are, however they will not let it rest. Any adivce on what way to carry this forward? They really got my blood boiling!
  11. Hi all Have finally got myself together and started my claim against Nationwide, I am claiming in excess of £2000 + Interest.(now I am only 21 and uterly shocked at the totals so far) Sent off my SAR today as i am missing a few statments and unable to go that far back on my online banking. Will keep updating with progress & aim to keep a diary on here. Any advice much appreciated. Another quick note.... Does anyone else think that there should be more guidiance / advice given to youngsters with regards to mney / credit / banking/ loans etc? It was so easy for me to get into 10k+ of debt by the age of 19, luckily (through lots of overtime and no social life) i have literally halved it now, but it was all so easy to do and i think something needs to be done about it to stop other people going down the same path!
  12. I have a contract with o2 for 3 years now and i was very happy with their service up until yesterday! I assumed my upgrade was due (contract taken out late febraury) and rang to order my new handset only to be told that when i had last upgraded i had switched to an 18 month tariff. I had no idea of this and at no point agreed to switching to an 18 month contract, didn't sign any papers or verbally agree anything! Where do i stand? I have asked them to prove when i 'agreed' and so far i await their answer. If i had known i was changing to an 18month contract i wouldn't have bothered! Anyone had the same or similar problems with O2?
  13. I have had the same problem with my clio today, went out for lunch and it decided to rev itself up and then stall. then i couldnt get it started again for about 10minutes, in the ten minutes i was trying it would start up and then just konk out again. Soon after i had to get out and push it into a space it decided to run again. it then gets to 5.30 and i am on my way home, the same thing happens again only on a main road this time. Luckily a friendly passer by towed me to a side road, got the car running and eventually home. Have called rac to come out in the morning, any ideas as to what my problem is? sounds like the idle control valve to me? The car is only a 54reg and i have had it since new, never had any problems before and it was only service 3 months ago. HELP me please!!
