  1. Hello all Three years ago we started a claim against our PPI. At the time (before seeing this website) we used a claims company. A big regret as we went through three solicitors (two went "bust"). We had chased and chased for updates, but heard very little until a few months back. It transpires that the second solicitor had done the work and sent to courts but the third one forgot to tell us anything! I had never even heard of the third one, nor sent any paperwork from them. The PPI was repaid as it was in their agreement to repay in full after five years a few days ago. However the solicitor has now also stated that they have had an offer (including the interest repaid as well), and I should send the cheque back to the loans company. They would then get the full amount back to us within 6 weeks. Understandably I have already banked the cheque, so cannot send back to them. Not spent it however! It does worry me that they are saying that so that they can get their 25% for doing little all. Would I be ok to ask them to just reclaim the interest repayable, and therefore only take 25% of the interest and not the full amount? I did wish I had not even been contacted by the claims company - but the last solicitor said that since it had gone through to the courts I would be liable to pay all costs if I stopped going forward. Am happy just to get something back, but after all this time, and getting some money back into the bank I am keen to pay off some of my other debts - and not hang on for even longer!
  2. Hi all We applied for a loan through Loans.co.uk, and were recommended to take out the PPI. The loan was through First Plus. We instructed one of those agencies to claim back for us - at the time it seemed the easiest of things to do (new family and life was a bit hectic). After the usual solicitor letters and compiling all the information, we were finally advised by the firm that we didn't stand much luck at winning because it was through a broker, and this no longer trades therefore too complicated. They therefore declined to act. The agency has since forwarded our details on to another solicitor who wants to start the process again! I appreciate it makes more sense to cut out the Agency and go direct - but do I go straight for First Plus, or try Loans.co.uk?? I have tried to look through this site to see if Loans.co.uk does still exist and for the answer to above but without fail. Any clues gladly welcomed... SJA
  3. Received my copies of statements today. Very nicely they had just sent the entries for charges Sent off my very polite letter asking for it all to be repaid today. Only a mere £961 for 6 years! Felt like more, but still worth the claiming. Although the wally's took the £10 DPA from my account (although now not using this anymore), despite me sending a cheque - this then sent my account overdrawn and caused them to send me a letter - Amazing Will update when the 14days is up! Thanks for the site - great help to all SJA
  4. Support is gladly welcomed! It's disgusting when you see how much profit these banks make - whilst we scrimp and save pennies
  5. Having found this site yesterday my wife and I have decided to go for it. Having been regularly charged by Lloyds TSB and then every year they call me in for an "Account Review", whereby they try and sell me a consolidation loan, and/or extend the overdraft, offer a new credit card etc etc etc it finally caught up with us! Having needed to commence a Debt Management Plan to get us out of the spirl it's time we tried to claim some back! Especially now this year we are going to become parents - every little bit helps! Wish us luck as I start the letter today..... Thanks in anticipation for your combined support. Stu & Ness
