  4. Received letter from Miss Katehrine Blunt on Monday saying-- 'Data Protection Act 1998:Subject Access Required Thank you for your letter of 20th April 2006 requesting access to the data that is held about you by Capital One Bank (Europe) plc. I have asked for this information to be provided to me and as soon as I receive it I will forward this on to you.'
  5. Got my post this morning, and it included two big envelopes from Barclays containing my last 4 years info. Also contained a compliments slip saying- 'Please find enclosed return of your cheques for £10.00 (ten pounds). The service you requested is free of charge' Oh really?! Then how come some people have been charged? Hmmmmmm So today I'll be totting up all their charges ready to send my asking-for-it-back letter.

    Beckiboo Vs Egg

Hi Everyone After deciding to take action against Barclays for the mammoth fees they have charged me over the years (only got 9 months statements at home, but it's already totalled £585) I also decided to tackle Capital One as well. I wasnt going to bother with Egg, I thought I'd only been charged about once since I had the card. However, a quick look at my online statements (going back a year) shows that I've been charged £100 in a year! I think most of the times I've gone over my limit is because they added interest before I made my DD payment. So, I'm looking forward to receiving my statements within the next 40 days after posting my DPA yeasterday. Will keep everyone informed of any response from Egg. Keep up the good work guys!!
  7. Sent my DPA yesterday by recorded delivery. I can only find 6 months of statements but the total so far is £240. I also sent a very very nasty letter to their customer services dept stating my disgust at the harassment they have subjected me to over the past 7 months. I have quoted various harassment acts/laws and they should get a good picture of how I feel about their company and their policy of bombarding customers with phone calls countless times each day just for being £20 overlimit (which has obviously escalated to more after the mammoth fees they charge). Will keep everyone updated to what will no doubt be BS that they send back to me!
  8. Well I haven't heard anything back from Barclays yet (but it's only been a couple of days)- BUT I have managed to dig out 9 months of random statements (I'm awful at keeping them all in one place!) and so far the charges have totalled £585!!!!!! In 9 months! Thats crazy! I literally cannot wait now to recieve the rest of the statements. Barclays have been fleecing me for god knows how long, and like everyone else, I just accepted it. Well no more. I've decided to go for my two credit cards too. My Egg statements online only go back a year and I had no idea that they'd charged me £100 in that time! And Capital One is worse. Looking through my statements it shows that most months I've been charged £60 for late payment, overlimit fee and returned DD fees. Thats outrageous. So far I've found 6 months of statements and they owe me £240. All I want to say is thankyou to this site for advertising the fact that we don't have to lie down and take what the big banks give us. It's time for the little people to fight back and hopefully enough people will and show the banks that we wont be beaten!!!
  9. Hi, I've had the same problem. Capital one phone me up to 8 times a day, day after day if I don't answer the phone. They also continue to phone me at work, even though I have never given them my work number (I think I called them once on the office phone which must be how they got it). I have repeatedly asked them to delete the number off my record but they still ring! I've told them how much I can afford to pay and that I'll pay the same amount each month on the 24th via internet banking. Yet they still keep calling me. I've become so sick of it that I just ignore calls that I don't recognise the number to or are withheld. They never leave an answerphone message though....
  10. Hi everyone, Been reading the forum for a while. Am just about to go and post my 1st letter to Barclays (recored delivery!) asking for a list of charges/statements, so counting down the days until I get something in the post from them. After being charged between £30-120 a month for as long as I can remember, and constatly living in my overdraft, I've decided enough is enough. How are we supposed to get ourselves out of debt with the bank while they consistently charge us stupid amounts of money. It's a viscious circle and needs to stop! Look forward to letting you all know whats happening and reading your stories of success!!
