or even Coling !!(see post 4)

it was from reading your thread that made me go back & re-do my spreadsheet. I had been putting in the dates wrong and the interest was coming out too high. I ended up starting again on a fresh spreadsheet but it wasnt too bad as I had all the figures in front of me from the previous one. I was able to put the date in as eg. 18/05/2001 & it shows in full on the spreadsheet as this. As an example my claim is approx £1600 & the interest on penalties came in at just under £270

ok - lattie - I decided to give them a bit of an extension when I sent my revised schedule and told them their deadline was 19th March so I will leave it at that. I think I will send this updated amendment tomorrow & then just file on 19th without contacting them again. Sound ok? & thanks again for the example you sent in the pm
thanks pete too
I must now get myself familiar with the MCOL bit.
-
Yes I know that about the 8% interest but my revised schedule is for new figures for the 'interest on charges' that I messed up on the spreadsheet last time. I made it they came to approx £600, then found out I'd typed the dates in the wrong format from reading another thread, went back and amended it today and they've reduced to approx £270, so I was way out.
-
lattie & netty thank you so much. I think it all went wrong because of the way I was typing in the date.
I was going to send off the new schedule just so they have the correct figures in case they want to make an offer (hopes)
Ive already done the 8% spreadsheet & dated the interest for 19/3
It automatically picked up all my figures from the charges spreadsheet and listed 2 yellow colums (one for 8% on penalties and one for 8% on interest on penalties.) Can I use this as it is for the claim stage?
-
panic over - i've finally grasped it.
Claim is approx 1600 & OD interest now showing as approx £270.
I even managed to get the 8% spreadsheet to work. Can you confirm I put in the MCOL file date for that.
My only query now is that I now need to send another revised schedule of charges to Leeds. Will this be ok & shall I still stick to my dates. I should be filing on 19.3
help please

oh dear... have just been reading Wylie's thread & I think I have ballsed up big time on the spreadsheet (which I have sent off to Colin at Leeds as 'Revised'.) Forget about the 8% now I'm back onto the overdraft interest calculations.
I put my dates in this format 18.05.01 & my interest came out at 19.97 (637.00 total)
I've gone & changed date to 18/05/2001 and interest went down to 0.35
(havent done them all but should come to less than £20 on 30 transactions which seems not worth even claiming for).
Can someone do me a favour & see if they get same result on this example.
date penalty applied 19.7.01
charge 27.50
interest date 27.06.01
interest charged 32.09
balance at interest date -2544.13
I made it 35p
stressed out & and going for a coffee / cigarette break

still having no luck with the 8% interest spreadsheet. All my figures have gone on but the 8% column just reads #VALUE! Any ideas??
-
I now want to prepare my 8% interest spreadsheet. Do I date this for when I file with MCOL? How do I get the interest to add on? At the moment the cells are yellow and say #VALUE!

don't want to go off topic on this thread but it was Asda. I've got my receipt & the garage are going to do me a written report so I'll deal with it as and when.
....received cheque from asda today 24.3.07 - paid garage bill in full
-
right I think I'm happy with the revised schedule of charges so I am going to prepare a letter & get it sent off tomorrow.
Thanks to all for your help.
My mind is whirring with all this at the moment & as if I haven't got enough to think about my car is in the garage with "dodgy fuel" syndrome!

hello netty - good to have a post from you. have seen your name in so many threads. congrats on your win.
going back to my spreadsheet question - does it seem right to you??
-
firstly how do I message people - should I just post a reply on here or send individual pms??
thanks for your response lattie - my spreadsheet is showing 1600 charges, 650 ish interest. This is made up of a % of the interest charged but on some its giving me all of it. It is giving me a percentage for every transaction but I was overdrawn for all of these. that sound right? I havent done the 8% yet.

I've done the excel spreadsheet - (up till 2.30am this morning!!). I first filled in column J putting in my monthly overdraft and it came up with less than £200 interest. I then read further & realised this column should be left blank unless the overdraft was interest free. That changed the figure to over £600. Does that sound right? I was charged monthly interest. If so I will definately send an amended schedule. Also how do you delete the extra lines before printing?
And what date do I put in period to: ??
-
ok I'll have a go at that spreadsheet tomorrow. thanks for your help.
-
but before you do that can you keep my heading as pinkdutchess V. HSBC
thanks
-
yes please!! I'm just reading your success story btw!!
-
thanks - will stick to my original thread from now on!
-
thanks for your quick response. Yep I realise I need to work it out properly on the spreadsheet which I will do now tomororrow if only to satisfy my curiosity on how much it will be. If I decide its worth adding on I will send an amended letter to HSBC (shall I send direct to Colin Langdale where I sent my LBA?) & should I still stick to the LBA deadline as I only gave them 7 days? Sorry for so many questions in one go.
-
-
just thought of something else. I orginally sent claim for £1600 (+ 8% interest).
I didnt realise I could claim the overdraft interest. Is it too late to check what this amounts to and add it on when I send the LBA.
I have no idea how much it would be. I went through all my statements & just added up the OD fees & excess OD fees.
To be honest I would just be happy to get the £1600 back if its too late but thought I'd ask before I do my LBA.
-
Hi guys
thanks for your replies.
So... 1st letter sent 14 Feb 07
due to send LBA 1st MAR - this allows 14 days from when they would have received the 1st letter - yes?
Any other posters out there sending their LBA on or near 1st Mar so I can keep an eye on your threads & give / receive encouragement?

Hello All
Have spent many evenings reading through threads on Martins money tips & finally sorted out my statements and realised I had approx. £1600 to claim back.
Sent off my first letter on Weds 14th Feb. claiming this plus the £8% interest as per Martins template letter.
I came across this site from one of Martin's threads and have been up all hours reading many facinating threads, especially the HSBC ones.
I hope you can assist me with my claim as now the letter has actually gone I'm feeling a bit queasy.
I need to send the LBA after 14 days - does this include weekends?
Can the bank stop me from paying by switch / cheque during the claim period?
Any particular advice I need at this initial stage??
Thanks in advance!!

I think I'm right in saying you have to stick to one thread. Just post a reply and it goes to the top of the 'new posts'
