  1. thanks guys for your advice!....i was really starting to wonder if all this was to difficult and Finding the time with my shift work ....and access to comp when u have a teenage bro in the house! I think im starting to understand the procedure, so off to the library and credit check (gulp) i go....... thanks again to everyone, i'll keep you posted I'm only just starting to get to grips with the procedure but if i can help anyone at all...give me a shout xx:D
  2. Thank you george for your advice. Its handy that i can also put this in with the agreement with the charges also!....i'll get on to these credit people and see where i stand thanks again!
  3. im convinces that if my name gets tyed into computer regarding money, bells n sirens start flashing and tannoy voices are heard shouting "code red...this is not a practice!" Could this be because by bank has defaulted me? How do you find out if youve been defaulted and does this affect all your credit rating everywhere? ....or have i just had to many dealings with debt agents? ...oops .....although my overdraft because of charges is mainly the reason. ....vicious circle!
  4. hi there, thank you for your reply and your advice! I'll check out the library and hopefully it'll be an idiots guide as the word "spreadsheets" instantly gives me the shivers! For my statements i just contacted the bank of scotland telephone banking line, it wasnt my local branch (ive tried to contact my local branch before and you'd think i was asking for their mothers number or something!). I didnt need to send a letter for them, and they reached me within a week. I paid a fee of five pounds for them (wonder if you can claim that back??) good luck with your claim....give me a shout if i can help with anything (although im tooootally confused with the procedure and need help...ive got an ear!)
  5. Hi there After researching the site for a few weeks ive now started my claim..which i estimate at roughly 1586. (which will actually pay for my overdraft to be paid off once and for all...yipee!) So far i contacted my bank (bank of scotland) by telephone and requested my statements...which actually arrived within a week with no problems. Ive been through the statements and discovered the estimate (not to sure about interest...(interest debited from account - notified from last month??) I should now be sending the first letter of contact but need a bit of advice please 1 - do i send these pages (68 in total) highlightling the charges? ive noticed on site people talking about statement of charges..do i need to phone up and request this? or can i draw up dates and charges myself on paper to send? 2 - would claimimg the interest back (interest debited - notified last month) be applicable for me to claim back as i am always in my overdraft (wage goes in - still minus!!) Fingers crossed x
  6. thank you also e28bigalbexley Everyone here seems so helpful including yourself..its much appreciated! x x
  7. Hi there old bear thank you very much for the advice and the links!! i just couldnt seem to find the right places. My claim is with the bank of scotland (grrrrr) i think ive started a thread but i didnt use the v"s headline so it got lost so thank you for the tip. will do that as soon as i get a chance. I should ask my bro to do it...he's married to the comp!! ha ha. thanks again x
  8. hi there, ive been browsing through this site for a few weeks to try and get some knowledge of how to claim my bank charges. Im still soooo confused!! so far ive recieved all my bank statements and gone through them but thats about it. Ive heard about interest, reclaimimg default? My claim is also estimated (by me) roughly 1556ish? i dont know where to piece it all together and work really long hours..access to computer is also tough when u have a teenage brother in the house!! Is there anyone i could recieve advice face to face as im not very good with reading articles and law? this may sound really lazy but ive also seen adverts of people who do the work for you..no win no fee people(who i usually claim are the reason the world is so untrusting) i think they usually charge 15%, and i would rather get all the money that is entitled to me...which will actually pay my overdraft off once and for all! Can anyone help? Many thanks
  9. thanks george!! its all a bit daunting but its good being able to talk to people and get advice when u need it. x
  10. thanks for your reply george theres so much to take in!!! the step by step was a good starter so thank you for that. Fingers crossed xx
  11. Hi there Im just starting to claim my charges back over the past 5 years from the bank of scotland. Ive just recieved the statements through and need a bit of help. firstly do i need 2 copies of the statements one to sent with the first claim letter to the bank and 1 for me? Also ive noticed an interest thats taken from my account on the last day of the month stating "interest debited notified last month" which ranges in amounts?? could someone please help me through the first stages, thanks x x
  12. thank you both so much for your advice! i ended up paying cap quest the last £150 to get them off my back as my mum was worried the house was gettin black listed and i was worried as i didnt know where i stood and dead line came up. At least now i can take my time to get to know how to go about it, and go straight into retrieving the debt back from the bank as they had sold it to cap quest...so i suppose i chicken out. I am now going to retrieve all the bank statements and take it from there...is this the right way to start?? I didnt get the loan as and all of the debt is the £12 for the privilage of having the account for the months that it was open and the rest is charges. thank you
  13. Hi there, i am looking into retrieving my bank charges from the bank of scotland for the past 5 years (being a student for first few years...i have had many!) I am writing to ask for advice for a slightly different matter..I also opened an account with the royal bank of scotland and opted for the gold account as i was advised this would help me in applying for a loan, this account would cost me 12.00 a month to keep. As i opened the account no money was put into it and therefore i was charged when the fee of 12.00 came round. I was silly not to sort this matter out and close the account and the months ticked away, i moved back home to my mother as money was tight...then i recieved a letter from debt collecters informing me i was required to pay 416.00. I have never put money into this account and have not taken a penny out of this bank. So far i managed to settle with the creditors to pay 300.00 as i had no idea about reclaims at the time, which i paid 150.00 last month and am ment to pay another 150.00 to finish which is due 31/01/07. Is this also illegal for banks to do?...can anyone help? I am reluctant to pay the creditors this last payment as would this close my access to claim if the matter is closed? I tried to phone the debt collecters (cap-quest) and explain that i was now disbuting the debt but they told me i was to late and that i had agreed to pay 300.00 (although i havnt signed anything) they told me ive left this to long (be roughly a year?) to start questioning things. the due date for last payment is on thurs and i dont know if i should pay it or not?? SORRY IVE WRITTEN A BIT OF AN ESSAY HERE... CAN ANYONE HELP? WOULD BE MUCH APPRIECIATED XX
  14. Thank you so much for your reply. Im still wavering as to pay this last 150.00 (the dept collecters - cap quest, want it by 31/01/07!) I did contact them informing them i was now in dispute of the ammount i owe but they informed me it was way to late and i had agreed to pay 300.00 and want the last payment, I did tell them i didnt sign anything although i did agree on the telephone as i was unaware of the bank charges issue at the time. This bank account was opened nearly a year ago. The person i spoke to at cap quest also informed me that i had also breached my contract as i didnt inform the bank of my new address....(yes, I got scared and went into hiding....oops!) I really appreciate your advice x
