The date for payment was Jan 1st ( a bank holiday!!) I paid through internet at 5:24am but c c co has charged a late fee as payment was not received until 3rd jan...... is this allowed?

    Stuck.....

I Sent letter requesting repayment of charges a few weeks ago - received an offer of half the amount on the fifteenth day!. Wasn't able to respond immediately with letter before action(fractured leg etc) and so within the last couple of weeks have been trying to work out total amount - with interest - to start court proceedings. However in the last couple of weeks I have had persistent phone calls - day and night - from this agency, and then this morning I received a letter from 'Heatons LLP' stating they have been instructed by 'Equidebt on behalf of abbey to commence cct proceedings against me' for the remaining half of my overdraft???? I have previously informed the first agency to contact me that I was in dispute with Abbey re charges and opened umbrella account. Do I repeat the process again? The total amount of excess charges without interest is just over a thousand pounds - its costing them more than that on agency fees to harass me! Do I now repeat the whole process of contacting Heatons: stating am in dispute etc and carry on with threatened proceedings or start again??? T
  6. Sent second letter to abbey asking for all charges to be refunded - sent irt recorded delivery and have counted the 14 days from delivery date which is 11th Oct - I have received from them and a leaflet titled ' HOW to Complain'. The letter states that they will contact me within 4 weeks! What do I do - wait or carry on??? Letter is signed Marc Winder, head of complaints
  7. Have searched the site for address to send prelim letter to..... ??does it go to head office ?? or is there a dept or individual it can be addressed to???(internet bank)
  8. Yes thank you - the support really helps, and I've opened another account as recommended when I started the process. I guess its the intimidating letters! Threats of debt collectors etc., and 'Do not ignore this letter' - makes me want to hide in a corner! until its all over
  9. Hi, I recd bank statements a few months ago - before I could advance with the claim I injured my back and ended up in hospital. This moring I got a letter form shabby abbey stating they are closing my account and want immediate payment of my overdraft - presently £797, (a great deal of this is charges!) Am now totally thrown.Daily energy is limited and everything is taking three times longer to do - what is the order of priority I now have to follow???
  10. 20 months of statements - I requested statements from when account wa sopened. Prior to this internet banking account I had an ordinary account with them - cant actually remember incurring charges with that but I am sur eI must have done - but nothing like the charges from this one. I guessI should have / or should NOW send for statements to prior account?
  11. Received statements this morning (23rd may) - sent dpa on May 4th to Kilton Keynes address, I'm suprised at the speed of return, I expected to wait like everyone else seems to have done when I read through the forum...... wondering if this is a bad sign or good sign that they have arrived so quickly??:o I have also stopped paying money into the account except enough to cover o/d interest was this wise ?? Can this be held against the repayment I am claiming??

    finally sent DPA

Finally sent dpa - on May 4th to Abbey House in Milton Keynes. Was recieved next day - checked tracking number on Royal Mail site they also provided a signature of the recipient! Having read through all info on site I know its 40 days before further action - but is that 'working week' days i.e monday thru friday or average 7 day week?
  13. I undersatnd your panic, I sent my dpa yesterday and am quakeing! BUT if you read the threads and support offered on this site it grounds you SO go for it and don't allow them to intimidate you - thats what they are hopeing for.....
  14. YES that is it exactly - and last year more than once the website was down - ABBEYS response was you can obtain a mini-statement from a cash machine or any branch! I thought the whole point of internet banking was immediate access to my account and therefore more personal control - said this to one of the customer service operative who couldn't(?wouldn't) respond - just repeated the same comments re: cash machines etc.
  15. Days when the balance hasn't been updated - they say internet banking is available 24 hours but on more than one occassion the statemnt has not shown a transaction that has taken place several days before (abbeys error NOT the site/store where transaction has taken place).
