  1. ok Will do. Don't forget to send it recorded ...it'll be worth the £1
  2. Hey !!! Congrats netty Don't you just love it when these big corps have to give in
  3. BTW did you see Netty just got an offer of the full amount ?
  4. Yep, just what I thought when I calculated mine .... Have you read thro the threads regarding interest ? I was a bit concerned that the interest rates change over time, and it is impossible to cater for these changes, partly because HSBC don't list them on their site. So using today's rate seems reasonable If they want to challenge the rate we are applying ..let them do the spade work eh ? Good luck ... if you have any questions feel free to ask..but I am only a couple of days ahead of you
  5. Oh..and you will have to amend the letter somewhat to include a phrase like " I also require you to pay me interest on the money you have taken from my account, totalling £xxxxx to date"
  6. Hi Lisa Yes, with first letter ...and with subsequent LBA letter, send the schedule of charges including compounded interest. Which spreadsheet are you using finally?
  7. Hi Lisa ..and welcome. I have just today posted my request for payment, including contractual interest, having spent 6 weeks reading through all the threads about contractual interest etc. My understanding is that the contractual interest IS your right- logically at least, because that is what they have been taking from you, unlawfully, over the years. So it seems entirely logical that you should charge them the same (but see below) for having your money all that time. With regards to the interest, I used today's rates from HSBC website, 18.3% on unauthorised overdrafts The penalties I've paid amount to £2500+ and the total contractual interest on that is a whopping £1900, so definately worth going for from the outset. The 8% which can only claim at a later stage if/when they don't settle amounts to considerably less, and in my mind is not fair. I can point you in the direction of threads on these if you can wait til tomorrow ...I still don't find it easy to find my way around the site What spreadsheet are you going to use? I found Mindsai's (think that's how you spell it ) excellent and easy Again if you need help to find it let me know Good luck !
  8. Hi Crusher...Did Mr Postman make your day today ? Fingers crossed for you
  9. Thanks again Crusher...Have been searching out current interest rates charged on "overdrafts" by HSBC but can't find APR rate. Their leaflets refer to EAR (equivalent annual rate)...which I'm thinking of using. Also my account changed from a Basic Account to Account Plus in July last year with a 1% lower EAR on overdrafts....but I think I will leave this for HSBC to find out....after all they have the resources !!
  10. Hi Crusher & Liz Have to say this is such a great site...trouble is I spend all my time reading ..such fun...instead of finalising my shedule of charges !!! Have now completed no less than 3 different spreadsheeets downloaded from here. First the simple Excel sheet from Vampiress, but then decided I wanted to go for compund interest. Had problems with Vamp's Advanced sheet, there are a couple of corrupted cells I think which won't allow me to input my estimated overbdrawn balance during period of interest in about half a dozen of the lines. Also must be doing sth wrong as the Total claim amounts to £8,697 on charges of only £2500 !! Much as I would love to get that sort of money back, even my basic maths skills suggest it is wrong So, downloaded another sheet which comes out at £4500 total with compounded interest which seems more reasonable....Unfortunately cant find whose sheet it was at moment..but it seems good Only ommission is there is no column to describe the type of charge levied.... total charges/ Recall etc...should I include this do you think or am I making it too easy for HSBC? Maybe I should be asking these questions in a spreadsheet tag??? Still confused about site layout... Really looking forward to the battle...almost more so than the money. All power to your elbows..and ..thanks again for the entertainment and inspiration...
  11. Hello everyone. Finally worked out where to come to say hello...if this is the right place....!! ?? Firstly a huge thank you to everyone who contributes to the site. I've been reading these pages for a couple of weeks now, whilst waiting for statements from HSBC...sure makes much more exciting viewing than anything on TV !! As an ex Trot I'd become disillusioned at possibility of overthrowing the entire system, but people's experiences here have given me renewed interest in getting our own back at the system in a small way. All power to everyone fighting back Am still unusre about where to post specific queries that I have regarding some details on the spreadsheets....can anyone give me a pointer plelase. Looking forward to reading lots more of peoples' fightback
