Hi. I am trying to claim back money from the Halifax for my now defunked bank account. They took around £150 in charges and i asked for them back. Within 2 weeks i got a letter offering £35 as a good will gesture. I refused this amount and sent them another letter asking them to reconsider. I received a letter on the 16th May saying that i refused the offer and that i must understand that they are not prepared to refund all of the charges. I have tried to phone them but i am told that the matter is closed and that i should refer to the Ombudsman if i have a complaint. Do i seek advice from the Ombudsman or start a court claim? Thanx for any help. Al

Hi, Never posted before. Just to let you know i got £60 refunded and £60 of fees due to be taken cancelled. All it took was the first letter asking for a refund. There was no argument and they just credited my account. No come back or detriment to my account either!
