  1. Hi I had Equita bailiff visit and he left a letter of his intention to seize my goods.Having read up quite a lot on what he can do etc,im still at a loss to several things. There is an old caravan in my garden which has not been moved in about 8 years or more,it is virtually derelict and am sure the wheels will be seized up.If bailiff levys this does he then have right to enter my property as i dont want to let him in. I owe £1375 for this years council tax.I work 23hrs per week and my husband has lost his job and started claiming job seekers allowance including council tax benifit. I have contacted the council and explained all this but they say i have to deal with bailiff. Would contacting magistrates court be of any use? We also have an old car which is not at our property Sorry for prattling on but really dont know what to do and my head is buzzing with worry.Any advise would be really helpful Thanks
  2. Unfortunately we can't take holidays during the school ones and that's the way it has been for a while. Not through affordability but because my OH has to work those times on contract through all of them without a choice. The best we can do is the second week in September to meet with my sister and her family that also have to take time from work and have to travel from Canada. I'm worried that we will be denied that time by my daughters school even though it's the first absence she will have had in 2 years. She's almost 11 and I know education is important and it's short notice to give them but this time will be important as a family also. Schools seem to think one size fits all and you are a bad parent for not taking holidays in the time they say. Not all parents can do that. Just as not all parents can afford the 'trips' away that schools organize but the rest left behind aren't getting the same education either and are left in the classroom as 2nd best. It suits them then that certain children can be absent and to have a 2 tier education. It's booked and I guess I have to face it when it comes to it. OH has booked the time off and got moaned at even though it's it's first in over a year and well in advance. He may not have a job to return to but that's life and sometimes family counts for much more.
  3. Hi all, My partner works as a nursery nurse in a private childrens nursery. She works 25 hours per week Monday to Friday and finishes at 2pm each day. It states in her contract that she must attend all staff meetings/training sessions, despite all of these being held out of hours after the nursery has closed at 6pm once a month, normally on a Wednesday. None of the staff are paid for these meetings, and people who are not at work at 6pm when the nursery closes are expected to return to work to attend. This is despite some of them living 20 miles away, however it is only a 10 minute drive across town for her, yet this still costs about 3 quids worth of fuel. We have 2 children of primary school age, therefore unless I am home from work at that time (which is rarely) she cannot attend because there is nobody to look after them. Due to her many absenses from these meetings, her boss is now saying that she must attend due to her contract and failure to do so would result in disiplinary action being taken against her. Is this true when she is only contracted to work until 2pm each day? Any advice please? Cheers, MP.
