When i opened the box it had a european plug attached and as i live in Wembley i couldnt use it...i went back the store and complained and they said sorry but wouldnt give me any reason why the item couldnt be used or why there was no clear indication on the advertising that you needed a secong european socket.. i wrote to Currys and Emailed and also phoned but to no avail, so i got on with my life, untill that is today....i got back from a little trip away and realised i'd left my razor Off i went to Currys in Wembley and sure enough they had the razor, but it still didnt say anything about needing a extra plug.............SO ME: hello i'd like to buy this Currys: ok thats £79 ME:does it come with a british plug? CURRYS MANAGER: then theres nothing we can do for you ME: Do you know that these are no good unless you live in Europe? CURRYS MANAGER: they are good if you buy a socket ME: Ill have it for free CURRYS MANAGER: well we are not going to do that and if theres nothing else i'm afraid i'm busy ME:-x: did you know its got a foreign plug on it? 2. Hello, I'm looking for some advice regarding an issue in Currys over the weekend. This last weekend they were having one of their 'Blue Cross Sales'. The advertising literature, and the website clearly said 'Blue Cross Sale - 20% Off*' where '* - 20% Marked price, discount applied at checkout' I was looking at a pair of Samsung 3D glasses that were listed on the website at £67.98 - with the blue cross logo also showing on the same page. I added these to the 'online' basket and went all the way through to checkout - the price never changed, no discount was applied, NO BLUE CROSS SALE! I then went into the Harrogate store, this was also advertising the 'Blue Cross Sale' - Again, they refused to provide the 20% discount as advertised all around the store! When they went in to check the price on their own system it was still showing £67.98 as the marked price! I spoke to the manager who agreed that the advertising was misleading but the £67.98 advertised price was actually the discounted price and nothing would be applied on checkout! On returning home I took screen shots of all the web pages showing the advert, the prices etc. I also contacted Currys via their online 'Contact' form. So far nobody has bothered to contact me, however, i did see that on Tuesday morning they ammended the website to increase the price of the glasses to £84.97!!! Can anyone please advise what action I can take on this? Currys were clearly advertising 20% off marked price and then refusing to provide the discount. I did select some other goods on the website - a washing machine, this also did not have the 20% discount applied... Many thanks in advance, Andy
  3. Hi there, I bought a dell inspiron mini 10 laptop from currys in march 2010 and all was well. But in late August of 2010 it suddenly developed a hard drive problem. Obviously this was only 4/5 months and went down to the store to try and resolve the issue. I explained the problem and they explained that it had to be sent off for testing and repair, the testing i could undertsand, only offering a repair i couldn't. I quoted the SOGA to my hearts content and they flat out refused to accept it even existed which frustrated me. I felt forced to accept the repair and was told to leave the store, even though i remained quite calm and cool. After this had happened i was not happy but decided to move on, but in early Jan 2011 it developed anoher Hard drive fault rendering the computer as useful as a doorstop. After only 4 months of being repaired and only nine months ownership i am now an extremly unhappy customer. Again i went down and was told about their whole '28 days or nothing' refund policy. Again i quoted the SOGA, saying it wasnt fit for purpose, not of sufficient durability and something was plainly wrong due to the repeated fault. They wouldn't budge and only offered a repair, which i refused and i am well within my rights i am entitled to do. They refused and after a staff member threw a paddy and went to her manager, i got no further and i left empty handed again Got home and asked consumer direct for some advice and they said pretty much the same thing but also to contact head office, customer services tc. Tried this and got nowhere as i got passed around far too much to understand who i was speaking to. I am at my wits end and i am just wondering if there was any useful advice or tips anyone could give me to resolve this issue . And is it just me or is their customer service just absolutley s***?? Thanks for listening to my rant, now feel better =D ZAPG
  4. We bought a Toshiba laptop about 5 years ago from Currys. At the time we took out their coverplan. The computer malfunctioned but we phoned them and they said we were not covered. We continued making the payments for 5 years. The computer became unusable and Currys had an offer on of £50 off a new laptop for a trade in of one that was not physically damaged and that would switch on. We phoned them again and asked if we were covered to repair the laptop. They said there was no cover so we traded it in for an HP laptop and paid the balance of £299 for it. It then transpired that we were still paying £7.99 per month and had been doing so for 5 years. We wrote to them and asked them for a full refund of the payments we had made over the 5 years and a refund of the £299 we paid for the unnecessary purchase of the new laptop which we would not have bought if we had had the Toshiba repaired under the terms of the cover. They have offered us £100, not the £778.40 we wanted back from them. These big companies have got us little people over a barrel there doesn’t seem to be any negotiation with them. HELP! PLEASE!
  5. Hello Everyone, A thanks for all the great advice I have already read on here which has been helpful and eye opening. I bought a Beko Fridge Freezer from Currys early feb of this year. Noticed last night that the freezer had defrosted its self and the contents are cold but not frozen. The machine is running from time to time but not for long enough to get things to refreeze. The fridge is cold. Obviously I will need to eat what I can from the freezer and then chuck the rest. Called Currys this morning, their phone system put me straight through to Beko to arrange a repair. Beko said they will call back within 48 hours to arrange an appointment. I know under SOG regs any repair / remedy should be carried out with the minimal inconvenience to the buyer. I think that do be without a freezer and with a fridge, whose thermostat that I do not trust, for more than a few days is highly inconvenient. In addition with the appliance partially working there is a huge food safety issue. It being Friday today I would expect someone to have come by the end of Monday at the latest. Also what is the opinion on time slots for engineers' visits? I feel that were I to be told that they will visit between 7 and 7 is inconvienent - not that I have a time yet. Under the SOG, can I ask for reimbursement for the freezer contents? I suspect Currys / Beko are going to tell me that I am not covered regardless of what the law actually says. When I originally got the fridge freezer there was a huge saga as they did not take the old one away as per my orderr with them. Frankly I would like them to mess up under the SOG so I can push for an complete refund so I can start again wtih a better model from someone else. Wish I had never gone to Currys. Thanks in advance for any help H
  6. On Sunday last i ordered a Laptop from Currys online/and over the phone. I was promised an email on the same day confirming that the item was available for immediate delivery and would be with me on the next day - Monday, to be confirmed by an email giving a tracking number! The next day, having not received the email I chased............................. Over 2 hours later chasing Currys contact numbers i again gave up after being promised the same 'Famous email' I am now at Wednesday after chasing twice more still with no notification!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Less than useless Customer Service comes to mind, as their current delivery information 'may be either 3 days time or next Monday' I WILL 'NEVER' AND I MEAN NEVER! BUY FROM CURRYS EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!! And I strongly suggest that everyone else who considers this option follows my lead>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Unless they improve DRAMATIICALLY then vote with our business - DONT GIVE IT THEM!
