Hi I am looking for information held about me from social services before and after I was adopted. I was adopted in 2007 when I was 9. I was adopted along with my 2 brothers. I understand there may be implications for access to data relating to either of them. Is it as easy as sending a SAR's to the heads of childrens and families in the area I was from and the area I was adopted to i,e Inverclyde council and South lanarkshire council. Any help and advice is appreciated. Both my birth mother and adopted mother now have dementia so the option of asking either is no longer an option. Thanks NJ

Not sure which category to post this under as none fits the description.Mods.please move if required. A colleague at work and his wife adopted a male at around 9 months old. When he was a couple of years old, the "parents" changed his surname to theirs. He is now 15.The colleague is seeking the original adoption documents but can't find who holds them.He has tried Social Services but to no avail. I suggested he try the registry office, or the magistrates court who awarded the "parents" custody.is this correct,or is it another governing body they need to contact?.

I have what is probably a odd situation, if someone could advise or help i would be most grateful. My wife has been working voluntarily for a dog rescue, she was fostering a dog then we decided to adopt, the fee is £165, we have paid £95 of this through weekly payments to make it more affordable, now the person whom runs this rescue has fallen out with my wife and said shes taking the dog back! where do i stand legally? if at all? this has upset the family greatly. No paperwork has been signed, its seems to have been on trust, all receipts of payments ie bank transactions i have. Any advice would help thanks
