  1. Hi Help please. Had a couple of Abbey/Santander Accounts and by 2007 I had had enough of the constant errors etc so closed the accounts. I have just checked my CRA reports ( All 3 ) and both Call Credit & Equifax show that on the last 3 months of this bank account (2007) It showed late repayments and then on the 4th and last month it shows default and then S for settled. However I never owed any money so had nothing to settle but more importantly nothing to pay. I never had any loans or credit cards. Not sure if I ever had a overdraft allowance but would not of exceeded it. I know from past experience that trying to phone or get any reply from this gutter bank is going to be impossible. I need to correct this entry and have emailed the two above CRA. Any help would be more than helpfull.!
  2. I have been speaking to someone who suggested that I should check the defulat dates on my CRA, as sometimes it's not correct. I have indeed checked them and I think the default date is when I stop paying someone?, I hae stopped paying my bills (due to illness, loss of job and then moving home), in April 2008, but the default dates are July and sometimes even November of 2008. Does it matter? The person I spoke to suggested it does because, they count the the 3 years/6 years from when I have stopped paying and if that's not correct it will take me longer before I can get credit? I have payed everything back and have since opened a Co-op basic account, a Capital One card and a Virgin mobile on a monthly contract, so building it back up. Could someone help me please? Thanks Mariann.
  3. My debts are over 7 years old. I moved address 7 years ago and told nobody. I got a new basic bank account and, to this date, that is all I have. I've checked my records for my old address and there are no CCJs registered. How is GAIN marked on my credit report? Do they use my name and date of birth to try and tie me to my old address? I have applied for a credit report with Equifax and they've asked for a utility bill / bank statement plus a copy of my passport / driving licence. They asked for that as soon as I told them that I haven't had any credit for the last 6 years. I haven't submitted them to Equifax yet. I want to build a credit score, but I'm scared that providing details will allow them to tie me to a GAIN maker on a previous address of 7 years ago. How does it work?
  4. Hi all, I have just bought my credit report at Equifax and found I have a default from Aug 2005 with CABOT FINANCIAL, it says Credit Card from Cabot Financial (Uk)ltd, it also says a balance of £1800+. I have no idea what this could be and nothing relates to the account no. have put a dispute in with Equifax but dont hold much hope of any sense from them. I would have thought that they would be asking me for it if I owed them £1800 but have never heard of them or the account. Can anyone help thanks
  5. Would appreciate any advice please: I was sequestrated in March 2009 & discharged March 2010, however a CCJ was awarded against me in May 2009 even though the debt was included in my 'estate' (and as a result I was not represented in court.) Now I cannot get either the lawyers, who wrongly pursued the case, nor Registry Trust, who record these for credit reference agencies, to correct or remove this CCJ from my files. I didn't even know it was there until a bank refused to open account 'because you have a CCJ'; I have asked every month since May when I discovered it but getting nowhere. Any help would be appreciated. thanks.
  6. Hello All, Firstly, I'd like to say what a great job you guys do here. I've never been one to get intimidated by DCA's and the like, however I know that many people can and I think having somewhere to turn, especially anonymously, could be a great help to many people - hats off! That said, I'm attempting to sweep the floor of my credit files and have recently requested same from Experian and Equifx. After a few rip-roaring years I've decided it's probably about time to sober up and buy a house, and am attempting to get my affairs in order. Looking at them I see two defaults for the same account, one from Orange and one from Arrow Global, both for an amount under £100 (don't want to be too specific!). The Orange default (Jan 2007) is with Equifax and the Arrow Global (June 2006) is with Experian. I recently contacted Orange and informed them that... Dear Orange, Upon recent examination of my Equifax and Experian credit reports I was surprised to find two default notices, one on each file, from yourselves and your collections department Arrow Global Ltd, dated from January 2007 for the amount of £ the **th of August 2005 had been satisfied in full and closed and there were no outstanding sums remaining on the account; I left the country and asked for this to be settled on my behalf and am assured that this was done. Whilst I am unable to acknowledge the debt from yourselves without seeing the appropriate paperwork, I am currently attempting to get my financial affairs in order and feel that a default of which I was not aware, for a small amount such as this can have serious long lasting implications, of which you are no doubt aware. With this in mind, I would like to propose that I pay this debt in full, immediately, with the proviso that Orange and Arrow Global contact any and all relevant credit reference agencies to remove the default notice registered against my name and record the account as "Settled". I await your positive response in the hope that we can come to a mutually beneficial arrangement. With Warm Regards, devandy. Now, the first email I received from O told me to send them a copy of my credit file (no chance) and write in as they couldn't discuss this by means other than postal. However, yesterday I received, from a lady at O, an email thus... Dear devandy Thank you for your email attached in reference to your Orange account and the defaulted amount of £ I can confirm that this default is correctly recording as this relates to your invoices raised from the **/02/2006 to **/06/2006 that still remains unpaid. The account disconnected for non payment which resulted in debt collection action and a default on your credit file. The account has now been sold onto a company called Arrow Global Ltd who now own this account therefore Orange can not come to any agreement over the payment and your credit file. You will need to contact Arrow to make arrangements with them. Arrow Global Ltd 15 Old Bailey London EC4M 7EF Tel. 0800 2792066 Thanks you and I trust this clarifies the situation. Yours sincerely orange lady. Now the query I have is this. I have two defaults registered with different agencies, so I am assuming that the chances of them communicating that these are for the same account to each other are nil, and a DPA request to them would be unsuccesful. However, orange lady told me that they passed the debt to AG and could no longer help me but the default from O was registered AFTER this was sold and AG got their piece of the action. How can they record this default if, by their own admission, they no longer are able to deal with the debt once it is sold and it is not their account to settle? Should I contact them and tell them to remove it as the debt was not theirs to record? I'm hoping that AG may be more receptive to removing the default if I offer payment than O were. Anyway, apologies for such a long first post, however I thought it best to give as much information as I possibly could. I hope somebody out there can help me, but even if not then keep up the good work and words of support! devandy
  7. Afternoon, I'll jump straight in with this, I had a Halifax Credit card which I got into payment problems after losing my job in Nov 2002. I then had an arrangement to pay until Feb 2004; where I got the account back into order. my account was then in order until Sep 2006 when I closed the account, however the arrangement to pay is still shown as the effective reason for my rating to be low. quoted below from check my file from the Equifax report "Payment Performance" "You have an account with an Arrangement to Pay on your credit report" "You have 8 accounts reported on your Equifax credit report. Of these, 6 are reported as being currently active." "You have 1 arrangement to pay on your credit report." Every other section of the report except the number of credit searches(which is 0) is reported as being good. my credit card usage is at 50% which is apparently Bang on perfect to be considered credit active and the number of accounts is also apparently bang on perfect at 6, all accounts have have been operated correctly for over 6 years, I have been confirmed on the electoral roll, I have no CCJ's or Judgements or Insolvency ever. My credit score however shows at 540 or 1 star and I am an unacceptable risk to lenders. this is still keeping my interest at stupid rates of upto 39.9% on some cards, as you can tell keeping this at 50% is costing me a fortune. I also have to rely on pay as you go mobiles or venture in higher cost mobile contracts. can I get that record stricken from the book as the bad balance will show until Sep 2012, or do I have to wait another 2 years still. are banks doing this deliberately to make sure you pay them higher interest rates on everything you buy. any help is greatly appreciated.
