  1. Hi,

Had a large loan with Uncle Buck. After emails back and forth, including my MP sending them an email they agreed a payment plan.

They now have emailed saying there is a 3 month review and to send two bank statements.

I have NO intention of sending them anything. Shall I just ignore them emails or tell them that I will stick to paying the £40 a month to them. Only have about 6 months to go anyway.

  2. I have seen it but we know the account number as we have the passbook so not sure of the point.

The letter basically brushed us off saying "well we haven't a record of the account so go away".

Just wondered if worht pursuing as £5000 in 1971 is worth a fair bit now. The passbook shows the credits but no withdrawals and no note of being transferred etc.

  3. Hi,

Apologies as not sure which section is best.

I will shorten this as rather complex. Have a passbook from Greenwich Building Society from 1971 with £5,000 in it. (was my father in laws mother but both passed away now - mother in law still with us!)

I found out that ultimately it was sold to Portman and then to Nationwide. So wrote off to Nationwide, send copies of the passbook and they now say that as it is well over the 6 years and due to the Limitations Act 1980 that they do not have any details of the account and all files would now be destroyed.

I have a problem with this as there could be £5000 somewhere from 1971!

Anyone know how to proceed with this?

    Many thanks

  4. Hi all,

Don't go there but I have, again, got myself into a situation.

Long and short I owe Uncle Buck £742.23. I emailed them over a week before it was due that due to devastating personal change in circumstances I cannot pay and I offered £40 a month.

Very slow to respond to emails and was told, on the Wednesday that an I & E form would be sent via email. It turned up Friday, the day the loan was due to be paid (25th April).

But they are asking for too much and seems very intrusive. The I & E form is very long with Excel tabs outlining every area of life!

    Here is the email:

"Please complete the attached income and expenditure in full to enable us to determine what is a fair and reasonable repayment plan for you to repay your current outstanding debt.

When you return your income and expenditure form you also need to provide 2 further proof documents:

If your are in receipt of any benefits, a recent letter that confirms the type of benefit, the amount and how often you receive the payments and a complete bank statement dated within the last 3 months, showing receipt of your income and general expenses.

If you are employed, wage slips to cover one month dated with the last 2 months and a complete bank statement dated within the last 3 months, showing receipt of your income and general expenses.

Please ensure you return your completed income and expenditure and proof documents by the 29/04/2014.

If you have any questions or need any other help, please call us on 01959 583979. We are available from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday."

I have major issues with sending any of this really.

Can anyone tell me where I stand and the best way to progress?

    Thank you,

    Swanleyboy

  5. Hey Jon,

Yes a fab result but thanks to you. For others looking I did add another page saying that I authorize the below to discuss my account - i put my local MP, the MP of where WDA is based, Carol Creasy, the Daily Mail money man and Payplan. I did not, ass of yet, email any of them but if there was no favorable response then I would have. My MP in Kent, in the past, has been amazing!

  6. Just a quick update. I emailed the letter above - thanks Fletch - and sent a copy to their address also.

Here was the reply I received by email today.

    "Dear Jonathan,

Thank you for your recent correspondence.

I can confirm that we are able to accept your Debt Management plan, and as a gesture of goodwill all interest and charges have been removed making your outstanding balance £548.07.

I will place your account on hold for 30 days awaiting a financial statement and offer of repayment from Payplan.

    Regards

    Rebecca"

Good news!!! Thank you to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. That looks great. Guess not much to lose.

I am going to email my MP and also the MP where they are based. I have found in the past that this is highly effective. Annoyed - but not shocked - that this is the ONLY PDL that has gone this far and so quick.

How do i deal with the £200 extra fees that they have added in under a week?

Once again so appreciative of the time it has taken you.
