I am a landlord and can explain how the DPS repayment process works You or the landlord can start the repayment process online The landlord then has to say if they are prepared to release the deposit or are retaining any part of the deposit (they must have valid reasons for this) - if there is a dispute there is an arbitration process The DPS pay the tenant directly and the landlord does not see the money at all but gets notified that the deposit has been repaid In summary I recommend that you don't accept anything other than payment direct from the DPS

Have you been reading threads by motorists in a similar position to familiarise yourself with the legal process and legal arguments? I suspect not. The regulars here don't have time to explain every little detail and even if we did we wouldn't - you are the one going to court and you need to educate yourself about the arguments. A good place to start is Alaska101's thread, especially as they were not very confident about preparing for court at the start but have gone on to put together a cracking Witness Statement. Hi apologies for the delayed response. Halfords complaint and SAR sent, both done by email and post. SAR was signed, scanned and a copy emailed. Both posted out today. Im prepping the email to dealer now, thank you for the wording.
