Hello everyone and apologies for the very late reply. Exams are coming up and i have been preoccupied with it as well as my legal issues. Just wanted to update this thread so it may finally be closed. I have tried all of the suggestions on this thread, and unfortunately it had amounted to nothing and I had to go forth with the hearing dated 23rd of April. Fortunately however, just before the usher called my name, I manage to find the prosecutor responsible for my hearing and managed to convince him to withdraw the hearing if i can pay the fare plus prosecution costs upfront; a whopping 226.5 pounds, which he agreed on! Hmm, now how would you have felt had the payment been declined and you were made to look an idiot at the hotel ? You obviously had some doubt as to the balance, it might have been an idea to check on your return so you could have remedied the deficit sooner.

Should be a similar thing then on an assured tenancy, you just have a few less rights than council tenants is all. Doesn't affect exchanges like this.

Lily, if you're in Northern Ireland you may wish to contact Debt Action NI - Which is a government funded charity. It appears that Nationwide's actions have been most unhelpful. The majority of creditors should consider an affordable payment and to freeze interest and charges if they are provided with a comprehensive financial statement. I can see that you sent one. Unless you can talk to the LL and negotiate early release. Don't go anywhere near the letting agent, as they do not work for you, and you have no legal binding with them. Your agreement is with the LL. What have you got to lose by going to speak with the LL? Most are reasonable if you do speak to them.
